I'm using it, however, all but 71 texturesnormals have been replaced now mostly by OUT playground (which is nearly in every case better: always higher resolution, less issues, or finer/more details sometimes), or other mods, which replace textures and their normals.
Tbh, this was explicitly for people (also me :D) who do NOT want higher resolutions. There is little to no use for someone who wants to use OUT or similar.
Yes, this was what I meant... sorry, I had corrected the text in the original mod to express this better, but forgot to do so here too. The info is for those, who are using great high resolution replacers already.
if you want the whole upscale experience then you should avoid this mod, but I like the way it makes the armor and weapons look, the rough normal maps suit them because in vanilla it looks too flat, for example the dwemer armor, otherwise it creates unnecessary shading and contrast which on some objects looks even worse and goes against the original vision, in some places the wrong inversion which does not add but on the contrary kills details, like some creatures, this is a great mod for its time but is terribly outdated, maybe upscaling these normal maps would compensate for this or maybe making rough normal maps on absolutely everything was not the best idea.
These are great for people like me who run on a low end PC, I can have more detail and depth to my game without the FPS drops and frequent CTD from high res textures. Imo this also looks better than some texture replacers anyway
Seems like it makes some of the wooden furniture (mid/upper class ones) look very roughly carved. I didn't even notice until I finished Kvatch because I thought the furniture in the castle was supposed to look battered and almost destroyed. Was that intentional, or is it a bug?
I honestly can't tell you what was intended or not, as I am not the original author, I just fixed the alpha channels. I do remember wood and stones looking way rougher. It was always one of the reasons I liked using this one.
Lots of issues I notice immediately. I am using Oblivion reloaded and the normals inside castles particularly the walls make it not tile correctly. Also the normals for roads in anvil seem to be backwards. Lots more subtle little details that break immersion. I do love the mod though. Don't even need any texture replacers, modern shaders and modern texture formatting made the low res vanilla textures look incredible in most areas.
There are some issues like in Chorrol the circular seating that's around the statue and tree is a bit too shiny in my opinion. I guess certain smooth surfaces that are reflecting way too much light than what is appropriate in my opinion. But overall my favorite and only minimal graphic mod.
When I want to use torch in vanilla, it felt like it didn't light up on certain surfaces/environments but this fixes that completely.
*Actually, seems to have to do with hdr and the sky I assume. Can't seem to tweak the floor reflection

- The Frostcrag Atronach Altar uses palepassice04.dds texture as "glass", which looks a bit weird because with RTNM it's pretty rough.
