For users who see missing "willothewispbloodspray.nif" file error when decompressing, get the .mpi file from optional downloads and run decompressor again.

hello I packed my generated LOD into a bsa and already my loading and performance were improved but I was wondering if it's possible for me to use this tool to decompress that bsa I made.

      Of course not.

"I packed my generated LOD into a bsa"
if you were able to pack BSA youself, then you can simply pack it uncompressed. Sounds logical to me.

Hello, I had a question. I noticed after decompressing that the only BSA which had its "Date Modified" updated to the current date was Oblivion - Misc.bsa. All other BSAs still show they were last modified in 2005. Does this mean there is some error occurring with my installation, or is this normal?

Normal, simply forgot to change it's date it in the latest update.
It doesn't matter because vanilla archives listed in the ini are loaded first.

Is it normal to have the textures bsa be labeled “compressed” after the process is complete but the rest of the bsas named normally?

Vanilla BSA names remain the same otherwise the game wouldn't load them. I assumed this is pretty obvious and doesn't require explanations.

I have only one question... what is the difference if I decompress (just repack bsa archives without compression) with BSAopt and this decompression program??

I heard from trusted sources that BSAOpt sometimes creates broken archives.

If you want to do it that way, then definitely use the excellent BSArchPro program which is also by zilav.

In the public Wrye Bash Discord server, I saw Arthmoor say the following about this Oblivion BSA Decompressor (message link):
And yes, using a BSA decompressor is placebo. It will have no appreciable impact on performance. In theory it should actually make it worse, not better, because the file system access is no longer optimized.
Do you think that there is any truth to his statement here?

This probably depends on the setup. If you have like hundreds of mods with thousands of loose files then the game most likely spends majority of time reading them rather than decompressing vanilla files, so getting rid of decompression delays won't be that noticeable I suppose.

But just yesterday I heard from the one of the most prominent NV modders also in Discord: "I tested without them decompressed by accident and the difference is night and day, 200ms vs 3 seconds to load a cell". He talked about BSA decompression in New Vegas but the engines are very similar, especially in dealing with BSA.

What about decompressing the Knights.bsa and the other smaller DLC BSAs?

217 compressed files in Knights.bsa, not worth it. You can always easily decompress yourself with BSArchPro.

Hi! I get an error message:
"Error reading "e:\games\tes4-oblivion\Data\Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa\textures\faces\oblivion.esm\0001bc2a_0.dds": File not found in archive"
    What should I do?

Before this mod, I installed Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch and Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches. Is it possible that this problem is related to this? Anyway, I had backed up the game folder right after fresh game installation and I restored Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa from there. Now there is no error when I run Oblivion BSA Decompressor.exe.

No such reports from other users of all decompressors (Oblivion, FNV and TTW) which are dozens of thousands. So, by pure logic, something is wrong in your system or your perception of stutters.

If I had already used the previous version, is it alright to use this one or would that create an issue?
