Hello, I'm using Ascension and have loaded this mod after it, however it seems that it does not work in adding health to my existing character. I even levelled up, but my total health remains as 2x my endurance as per Ascension's config.

Is there a way for these mods to work together? Am I doing something wrong?

Ascension changes the way health is calculated, so it is just 2x Endurance. Therefore, you don’t need this mod.

If you enable the vanilla health settings in Ascension’s INI, then you can use this mod.

Thank you for the quick reply, do I just set ascMasterQuest.bForceVanillaHealth to 1 or 5?

EDIT: I set it to 1 and leveled up and my health changed upon level up. Thanks.

    Nerd.

Yeah i'm using the other retroactive health mod, on a level 38 character and i will (try to) update to this wonderful little gem you made because that other mod adds bonus health effects to the spellbook and that's just not slick enough for me.

Cool to see you had a field day with the original formula too, pictures you as a massive turbonerd with too much time and severe obsessions, but that's mostly beneficial in a world no one can read anything for more than 30 seconds.

It also pictures you as someone who likes things done right, which is definitely and unfortunately a rare trait this day and age.

Is it supposed to reduce health? Because that's all I got.

upd. I deviated from your guide by becoming interested in this, but I think I realized that it is not really necessary.

For everyone who is confused about this mod, let me explain it as I understand it.

So how the endurance stat works in Oblivion, is that it raises your health and endurance whenever you invest into it. However, there is an added functionality to it where whenever you sleep and level up, it adds more health points based on a calculation done based on your current endurance. This means that there is health you can miss out permanently on merely by not investing in endurance at early levels in order to maximize your health growth. This means in vanilla, in order to get the most out of endurance and to not lose on potential stat growth, you have to level your endurance ASAP. Naturally, this causes problems by restricting freedom of playstyle, freedom to choose what to level, etc.

What this mod claims to do, is that it will retroactively determine your extra health based on your endurance and current level. This means that you don't have to level with X endurance to get the benefits, you just need to invest in endurance in general, and you will get these benefits, regardless if you had X endurance when you leveled.

By default, it acts as if you had leveled with the max possible endurance obtainable by vanilla at your current level. Therefore, the script seems to do calculations in which it's as if you started with (Default endurance value), +5 (from endurance specialization from class choice,) +10 (from possible racial choice), +10 (from possible birthsign,) and then +5 to endurance per level, since you can only level your endurance a max of 5 per level. This is probably how it determines how much health you get when it tries to mimic the vanilla possible endurance you possibly could have when leveling at any point. So it doesn't just simply take your current endurance and level, because that would exceed valid stat growth. It has calculations that account for each possible endurance level you could have had at each level, and that's how it does its calculations. At least that's what I assume.

I do not know exactly how it does it, when the script decides to make these decisions. I do not know if it removes previous health modifications that may have occurred before you installed this mod, resulting in higher than vanilla health. I don't even know if the endurance leveling addition to health is even stored as a separate value. So I don't know if you install this after leveling a few times, if you keep the previous stat growth.

In theory it should not affect anything else, like how someone asked if this was the reason their endurance was lowered. It shouldn't touch the number of endurance you have, simply the formula the game uses to add more health.

Now while doing my research, I have no idea what others are talking about when it comes to "retroactively adding magicka." To my knowledge, no attribute affects magicka like endurance affects health, so idk what people are talking about there.

I don't get it. Sorry to ask, but is this mod the reason why my Endurance was lowered, which lead to a decrement in Health, AFTER taking a class during the conversation with Baurus after the Emperor's death?

If installed and run on a pre-existing save, does this mod also retroactively add health you would have gained for previous levels? It wasn't clear to me in the description

attribute progression redesign seems to be a good companion mod to this.

I'm not sure I totally understand how this mod works, or even what it does. But I know about the problem, and you've got an engineering degree, so I'm gonna trust it. lmao
Thank you for this and all of your other mods!

I really appreciate the level of effort you put into this, even went a got a Masters in engineering for it and everything. Jokes aside, thank you for your efforts, your mods are stupendous.

Played as a Dunmer with Atronach sign and Endurance as one of the class attributes. For whatever reason, this mod ended up not only being less effective than manual leveling, but also breaking my character's health even after his Endurance was 100. 0/10, would not recommend.
