Mod Name: GrosseMesser New Stock

Requirements: None

DESCRIPTION

Hello, and welcome to this mod.

After a customer at A Fighting Chance tried out a shipment of weapons, word got around. Rohssan had to order in extra, to meet the demand, and the new line of Messer weapons became popular. It wasn't long before other smiths and traders wanted a piece of the action. And then a few wizards started enchanting the new line of weapons.

This mod contains all the meshes and textures from the orginal mod, plus the following esps:

1 - MesserResource: New (aa) IDs are made for the four weapons. No other changes are made. This is a modder's resource.
2 - MesserVendors: A vendor chest is made, and added to A Fighting Chance and half a dozen other smiths and traders. Most of the other vendors are not in the Imperial City, so shop around if you want a good deal. Playable immediately.
3 - MesserEnchantments: A second vendor chest is made, non-respawning, for the enchanted varieties. 20-damage versions of shock and fire weapon enchantments are applied to each variety of messer weapon. The enchanted weapons have a charge of 2400, and their base price is increased to reflect this. The enchanted weapons are only available from A Fighting Chance, and when they're gone they are gone for good. Also playable immediately.
4 - MesserEnchantExtra: Owing to the popularity of these new weapons, a score of NPCs benefit from dynamic adding. In addition, Tun-Zeeus is experimenting with making Fine versions of Messer weapons; normal weapon resistance is ignored, weight is decreased by 10%, health and damage increased by 10%, and price increased by 50%. As with the enchanted varieties these are a one-time-only deal, with a non-respawning vendor chest. Also playable immediately.
5 - MesserExtra: Lastly, the dynamic adding script is added to the basic vendors version, in case you like seeing NPCs use the same weapon as you but are not interested in the enchanted or fine versions. Also playable immediately.
Options are nice, don't you think?

The original mod's description is included for reference purposes, as is a copy of the quest script.

CONFLICTS/ISSUES

None known or likely. The vendor chests are pushed far enough down and away beneath the shop floors that they are unlikely to overlap with similar chests placed by other mods. And without a big crate sitting in the middle of A Fighting Chance, there won't be any conflict with other mods that alter the shop interior in any way.

Game Balance: 20-damage enchanted weapons with 2400 charge might seem unbalancing at low level. However, they are less impressive than other weapons you can buy (or find) in the Imperial City, not to mention Transcendent Sigil Stone enchantments. Similarly, the Fine versions are only slightly better than normal. And their vendor chests do not respawn.

This mod was created using the latest version of the Construction Set, and playtested with The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition. Although Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine were installed at the time, they are not necessary for use of this mod. Similarly, while OBSE was installed it was not used during play. Nor was any other utility, e.g. Wrye Bash, installed or used.

My laptop doesn't like screenshots, so feel free to take pics of your characters using this mod. Upload them to this mod's webpage, and I'll verify the images as soon as possible.

IN CLOSING

This is the first in the series of armoury modules. As with the clothing building block series, I am planning on merging selected weapon and armour mods into a shop sometime in the foreseeable future. If you have any suggestions for weapons and armour you'd like to see all available in the one place, now's a good time to place your pre-orders.

Thank you for reading and downloading. Enjoy this mod, and happy gaming.
