Hi I just recently reinstalled this mod after having to reinstall my Oblivion, and I'm only using basic QOL mods and Darnified UI, and whenever I go to open the Skill Diary it only shows the "records of your journey" text and doesn't bring up the skill tracker menu. Any way I could get some help? My load order shouldn't be wrong as I've used BOSS and I have OBSE installed as well.

OBSE probably isn't working, e.g. you're not launching the game with OBSE enabled.

You were absolutely correct, but now after properly getting OBSE installed, Oblivion crashes going to main menu :(

The mod already works in Nehrim, but it won't show the correct exp if you stockpile your levels gained.

I have a tiny issue with this mod, which is that trying to open the skill diary very rarely causes the game to instantly crash to desktop. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if it is a known issue. I'll point out that I do have some other lightweight mods, and that after 30 hours of gameplay while constantly checking the diary, it's only happened 3 times.

Hey there, loving the idea of this mod, as it provides much needed information on attribute bonus progress.

However, I was wondering if you'd be willing to make an alternate version for the changes to the system that this mod provides: Attribute Progression Redesign.

That mod adds any attribute bonus progress to a pool, which is then drawn from when you level up and select your attributes to boost (+5 is still max per level).
Any excess or unspent attribute progress is stored for later and never lost until spent.

What I'd like to see from this mod is the total bonus pool for each attribute, instead of the progress for the level you're currently working towards.

That’s not really how Attribute Progression Redesign works. It uses the vanilla skill-ups system, and just re-adds the skill-ups after leveling up for the attributes you didn’t pick. Since this mod displays information on skill-ups taken directly from the vanilla variables, they already work together.

So I still need to make sure I get enough skill-ups for +5 bonuses, before progressing past a level?

While you're right that APR only re-adds the bonuses upon level up, it does keep internal track of pooled bonuses somehow. As the bonuses are only added to the variables for the next level, it won't show any of the pooled bonuses for the following level until after you've slept and accepted the next level.

I noticed this when I was around level 4. I'd had enough major skill gains to reach level 5, so Skill Diary showed me my progress towards level 6. To which I had basically 0 bonuses.
Upon sleeping to level up I had +5 bonuses for a number of skills, so after choosing some of those and accepting the level, I checked Skill Diary again, which now showed me +5 bonuses for the same skills I had just chosen (in addition to all the others I didn't choose).

This accumulated bonus pool is what I would've liked to see somehow. I'd also love to be able to see the potential bonuses for any level I've progressed to (but not yet accepted), if possible. I realize that any further skill gain won't affect them, so it might not be particularly useful, but it would be nice to see nonetheless.

I don't know if this is even technically possible, or how much work it would require, so if it's something you're not willing or able to do, I'd understand.
Displaying the pooled bonuses from APR might be better suited to be handled by APR, after all.

EDIT: After finishing that last thought, I'll go ahead and post a request to the author of APR on the mod page...

i absolutely hate the level system of oblivion.
I would really love to just ignore it, because its so annoying to keep track of when you are allowed to sleep, not to waste any attributes.

I was in the situation that I had 3 level ups ready but the attributes wherent balanced enough trained, so I just had to wait.
Till i ran out of patience and skilled up with most attributes beeing about +3 instead of 5....

The problem: The whole world doesnt scale with your attributes but with your character level. So if you level up with to low attributes the Game will become more and more difficult until beeing unplayable after certain level ups. What a ******

You can easily overcome this with Attribute Progression Redesign and A Fair Attribute Gain Change along with this mod to track your skill gains rather than use a boring +5 to all attributes mod while preserving the vanilla system. The level scaling as you mentioned is the real problem, and the only real way to change that is to use an overhaul such as OOO among others to rebalance everything.

Hey I've been loosely following your through the valley guide and really appreciate your guidance and mod work, does this work well with the Attribute Progression Redesign mod that carries points over? Just wanted to be sure before I include both as Im trying to keep things minimal as possible but these are both super cool mods. Thanks

So... I'm new to this beatifull game thanks to ManyATrueNerd, and I really liked the skill book mod. So, I followed a guide on how to install mods, and found out about OBSE, and that after you just have to add the mods into the correct folder. In the video it said to run BOSS before launching Oblivion, and I can see in the report that the Skill diary mod is available. I even played through the beggining twice just to make sure, and I did not receive any book. Nor have I found it lying next to the sewer entrance.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Edit:
Nevermind. Found my mistake. Didn't enable it in the Oblivion launcher
