The last two times I played Oblivion, I was plagued with a graphical bug (or at least I assumed it was a bug), where every time I turned the camera left/right the mountains and trees in the distance would move and disappear.
But this third time, I started getting crystal clear water while swimming. Basically felt like flying through the air while underwater.
I searched online for fixes and was puzzled why no one seemed to have a fix for these issues.
Well. this time I decided to figure it out, and it turned out to be this mod. The culling of the mountains and trees I can admit is my overlooking the fact that this mod alters the rendering of things quite far away, but the water issue wasn't. It took me quite some time to narrow it down too. Setting the Clipping Settings in the ini to 1 will fix both issues. Oh well, I hope someone else finds this before going through the same thing.
Also, the pop-up message saying you've played for X minutes should really be set off by default. Trying to figure out which mod added that was a minor nuisance as well.
Many Nexus user recommend me use this mod. I'm using Streamline now and problem is Streamline is also have auto save option and purge cell base on fast travel, cell change, sleep/ wait. Is Purge Cell Buffers Plus Plus and Streamline are compatible ( I asked you but i believe it's not :)) ) or mutually exclusive each-others. Thank you.
Do you mean restart the game, as in start a new character? Or just load a save? If it's restart, it's by design. Loading a save, then there are script variables that need to have their state stored. I believe (can't remember--been 8 years since I looked at the scripts), but isn't the autosave system configurable in the INI? Check the INI if you haven't already. I have to assume you have, but you know what they say about assuming...
whenever i load a save. yeah i already tried the ini but now i got it working by setting the autosave time to +999 mins :) thank you for this amazing mod, helped me a lot <3
is this the one mod that gives you the "hello" message when it initializes? sorry if it isn't, I have like 140 of them and can't really track down the issue myself.
Edit: UHMMMM, how do I disable the 'I have been playing for X minutes' message box??? If I set aaMalonnASQuest.lAlarmInterval to 0, it will just keep popping up non-stop. gonna set this to 99999 and report back if I run into issues AGAIN
To anyone using this mod in 2021, be aware of the optional extras that are enabled by default. Particularly the settings that affect LOD generation and auto saves!
For sure. It's been so long since I looked at this mod that I don't remember what I did. I possibly made an error in judgement by enabling some of the extras by default. The actual reason I coded this to begin with was to work around audio issues I thought were caused by buffers being purged. The point to this mod is to purge cell buffers. The extra stuff was more for fun/personal use I figured someone may like. It's all configurable. If I ever pick this mod up again (unlikely), I'll work with suggestions and complaints to enhance the mod.
EDIT 26/1/22: FWIW I have been using another purge cell buffer mod for a while (I forgot about this one!) and it has cut my CTDs quite drastically. I can now play for 2+ hours at a time without crashing, whereas before I was getting a CTD every 15 minutes (160 mods). I'll give this one a go for a while, though I should imagine the outcome will be the same.
Well. Keep in mind, all it does is purge cell buffers. All you should notice is an ever so slight stutter as buffers are purged. Having said that, are you running OBSE? It requires OBSE. You dropped sort of a vague question, brother.

Setting it to 0 should disable popups. I must have goofed in the scripting. Setting it high will do the trick.
Don't use the mod if it causes issues. There are a slew of buffer purging mods available. This mod is as-is. I doubt I will ever pick up development.
setting it to 99999 worked for me
Is this compatible with engine bug fixes? https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/
Should anything be disabled?
Thank you and all the best.
Good comment though, Owangee1.

An old post mentioned how great it would be if we could toggle the "HUD flicker" feature that indicates a cell is purged.
I just wanna second this... It would be really cool if we could disable that "HUD flicker" thing... it's a tad distracting.
