Is the discussion currently going on below me a good explanation for why BUM and TES4EDIT both hate this mod, why it shows up as a master, and why it breaks the default frostcrag DLC? If so, seriously? This should not be my job to fix, mostly because I can't fix it at all (tes4edit will not load it because it loads before frostcrag and that makes it cry, and I can't change the stupid load order because some genius made it a master file and I get errors regarding not being able to load .esp files before masters with both BUM and wrye bash so now my data files are stuck at a cache 22) and partially because because I put my trust in people to know what they're doing because when it comes to code, I don't.

If not, then, well, screw it anyway. This has tried my already pathetic intention span to its very limits of possibility so maybe I'll wait until someone else can upload a weather patch that isn't dirty.

My mod is not a master and I think you are confusing it with a previous version uploaded by another author which is what the discussion below is about. My mod that is uploaded on this page does not need to be cleaned because it is clean of all dirty edits.

I am not saying it is illegal, you are saying that. I am saying that what the mod author uploaded shouldn't be allowed because it is the whole esp and will break other mods including the unofficial patch mods. The author should have been given a link to the tutorial for making his esp use the Bethesda esp as a master so he could do it properly and have a mod that is compatible with everything else.

Obviously you didn't do a search for what a dirty edit is or you would know why including the whole esp for 1 edit should not be allowed. The only things in the esp should be what was changed and if there is a dirty edit the author should clean it.

And why are you commenting on a mod you wont use? I made this simply to fix something Bethesda screwed up, as an alternative to the one you linked that is unsafe to use, and for people who do not want the unofficial patches. You have no reason to be here commenting and you are misinterpreting what I am saying as well. Have a nice day.

I know what a dirty edit is.  That is why we have tools such as TES4Edit to clean them and tools such as BOSS that tells us when a mod is intentionally dirty that you shouldn't clean.  If someone is going to get so heavy into modding as to worry about dirty edits, then that person should be in the habbit of using both tools.  Sure, it's very nice that authors clean their mods, but that's not always the case.  Some of the older ones did not do this because it was an unknown problem.  This is why many mod-vets will tell you that you should always clean your mods with TES4Edit unless the mod isn't supposed to be clean.

"Should not be allowed" = "Illegal".  No need to concentrate on that, it's just semantics.

I comment on many mods that I do not use for advice to the author, praise, or asking for clarification, which is what I was asking for in this case.  If you do not like it, there are options to either hide my responses or completely turn off commenting, or you can ask a moderator to remove my posts.

That's why I posted a link to the tutorial to make the DLC a master for that mod so users can clean it and fix it so it works the way it should. "Shouldn't be allowed" is not always about legality. We mod authors are not allowed to mention endorsements in our mod description and that is not because it is illegal. That's to prevent endorsement begging. But it prevents authors from being able to say "Thank's to those who downloaded and endorsed." That's a small not allowed compared to releasing a mod that is 99.99% a dirty edit that can easily be fixed by renaming it to DLCFrostcrag.esp and doing a deep copy override to a new file of everything that was actually changed. Not allowing the whole DLC esp/esm to be uploaded is to prevent the mod from breaking all other mods and official patches that depend on the DLC. These issues were known since Morrowind because it breaks mods the same in that game.

      From the TOS:
"•Do not upload files that are knowingly broken and known to prevent the majority of members games from working properly."

Uploading the whole DLC esp breaks other mods and official patch's that depend on the DLC. He knew it was breaking peoples games because there was a note in the description saying it is not illegal. It is not a matter of legality but a matter of breaking others games, is an existing rule and thus the mod should not have been allowed to remain visible. The moderator who first received a report should have opened it in tes4edit or CS then immediately set it to hidden and send a message to the author that posting the complete DLC's .esp is against the TOS and a link to how to fix it to make it acceptable.

Oh I don't need to ask a moderator to remove posts. We authors can delete any post we want. To the right of your Kudos count is the word delete that if clicked will remove your post. I have done it before to troll posts, you are just debating and not trolling so there's no need to delete or report.

I'm a little confused by this, mostly because of what you said about a person uploading the original DLC. What does that have to do with this mod? Also, which one are you talking about? I don't see any Frostcrag mods that do this. All of the ones uploaded in 2008 that I see require the original DLC.

Also, how does this mod differ from: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/3654 ?

That one includes the whole esp file and not just a weather fix. Mine just fixes the weather.

Ermmm.. I don't think that's the same thing as illegally uploading the DLC.

Look up "dirty edits" and you will know why he shouldn't have uploaded the DLC's esp. The whole esp being uploaded for 1 edit may not be illegal but it shouldn't be allowed when there is no valid to upload it. You can go ahead and use it and have one giant dirty edit I really don't care.

It's still not the same thing. By your same philosophy, every single mod uploaded is illegal since they are essentially edited versions of the original oblivion.esm. Also, I don't need to use either this patch or the one you're accusing as illegal since I use the Unofficial Official Mods Patch.

Regardless, thank you for adding this for those that don't use other means to correct the weather mess up.

The Unofficial Official Mods Patch also fixes this.
