About this mod

Roleplaying an Alchemist? Tired of laboriously aiming at and clicking every plant? This tiny mod functions like a scythe instead of a fiddly pruning knife. With no weapon or shield equipped, hold down the Block control and aim at plants within range of the crosshair to auto-harvest them.

Just a simple little mod to make it easier for Alchemists out rambling for ingredients in the wild. Rather than laboriously stopping at each plant, aiming manually and pressing Activate each time, you can simply run around with Block held down (to activate auto-harvest mode) and "sweep" the crosshair over plants to automatically harvest them. Release Block to return to normal harvesting mode.

Block will ONLY activate auto-harvest mode if you have NO weapon or shield equipped. If you have, you'll block normally instead of harvesting. This is so the mod can use the existing Block control outside combat and have NO effect on combat. Sheathe your weapon and unequip your shield before harvesting. I suggest assigning your shield to a hotkey so you can easily equip and unequip it. It's more immersive and realistic this way, as you wouldn't have your hands free for harvesting while carrying a sword and shield, and picking flowers while enemies are charging at you will only get you killed! LOL.

This mod doesn't harvest ALL plants in a radius around you. It gives you much finer control by allowing you to harvest only the specific plants you aim at. It sort of simulates running around with an invisible scythe that will cut any plant it touches. Aiming is still a fiddly hit-and-miss affair (blame Bethesda for making you aim at a specific small PART of the plant instead of any part of the plant), but "sweeping" makes it much easier to catch plants while you're moving. The script runs every frame so the faster your framerate, the more responsive the aiming will be with less "misses".

It also doesn't remove plant meshes when harvested, or change them in any way. This ensures full compatibility with the vanilla game, official DLC's, and all mods that add or change plants. Works best alongside Harvest Flora, as that excellent mod gives you visual confirmation that a plant is harvested by replacing the plant model with a different one. If you harvest Aloe Vera Leaves, for example, the leaves will disappear then "grow back" after 3 days.

A neat (unanticipated) side-benefit is that readying a Telekinesis spell (there's no need to cast it) increases the crosshair activation range, so when holding down Block, you can auto-harvest at longer range than usual (like having a longer scythe). Even a "Telekinesis in 10 feet" spell allows you to quickly clear Farms and Vineyards.

Tip: Moving diagonally along a row of plants (pressing Block + Forward + Left or Right so you're looking at 45 degrees to your direction of travel) makes it much easier to aim in advance while running.

INSTALLING

Manual: Extract Harvester_v1-00.7z into your Oblivion\Data folder and activate Harvester.esp via Oblivion Launcher.

Wrye Bash: Drop Harvester_v1-00.7z into your Oblivion Mods\Bash Installers folder. On the Installers tab in Wrye Bash, right-click Harvester_v1-00.7z and choose Install. Finally, on the Mods tab in Wrye Bash, activate the Harvester.esp file.

Doesn't matter where it is in your load order, as it doesn't change any existing objects, only adds a new empty quest with a small script attached (both uniquely named starting with H8 so it's highly unlikely they'll conflict with any other quests or scripts).

UNINSTALLING

Manual: Deactivate Harvester.esp and delete it.

Wrye Bash: On the Installers tab, right-click Harvester_v1-00.7z and choose Uninstall.

That's as simple as it gets.

Have fun!
