You should add to the description how many days or hours it takes for a skill to decay 1 pt or something. other than that this is a must have mod for anyone. well done. love it. adds so much to immersion
Now it works. No crash. Unfortunately I had to remove it for the time being. I have experienced strange behavior due to the 3 level mods. NGCD + Progress + Skill Decay I wanted to use 3 of them. When one of my skill decayed by 1 point the progress % became hundred thousands of % like 389875% progress. Whenever I used the skill, it went up by 1 point, deducting the big progress by 100% (like 389875% --> 389775%)
The other issue was some sort of reload problem. In case I reloaded my save I had to check the skill progresses because many times most of my skill had many hundred % progresses. 2nd reload fixed this mostly...
I disabled skill decay and no more such problems.
Any idea how could I use any combinations of these mods to make this concept working. I want a "level less" soution (preferably nGCD and skill decay. I am not sure how important the progress is for me) The vanilla skill gain is just too quick.
Right now my Brabarian is lvl 11 highest skill is about 55 I got 2 skills beyond 50 and I am very happy with this.
Thanks a lot. I cant wait to try this one out. Btw i was fiddling with the decay mod some more, and i figured it out myself: the problem is with the advancement/decay part, so i turned it off. It went fine for a while, then started crashing again on decay event by time... (I am about 5 level since start due to slower advancement by progress best skill around 45)
Well ill check it out with the OBSE you recommended Thanks again !
Yes please to the maker of this mod (tejon) check this problem because it is awful. Only way to avoid it is to change the script to only have the decay over time (so NO buff when you level/no skill loss when a skill goes to the next mastery level) but we'd like the whole mod.
As little as this mod is, it is still so much needed to add more hours of gameplay, realism, and fun!
It would be must have for me i just love the concept. Unfortunately it crashes the game every time I gain skill. I have tested with realistic leveling. No other mods installed during the test. (only darnified ui)
I started a new game ofc, so it was before my class choosing window.
On the second attempt i have tried skill decay with nGCD... same result crash at skill gain. When i disabled skill decay, crashes are gone.
Great addition but doesn't work for me. It crashes whenever I fight. I use FCOM and I use no mod that affects skill gain or anything related to this. Any ideas?
Edit: Tested on clean oblivion, crashes as well whenever my health goes below half when fighting.
Edit: I found that the post-buff value is making the game crash whenever i get a couple of hits. If I set the value to 0 as well as the decay from advancement value, it doesn't crash. By the way, are you going to update this mod or is it dead?
v1.1 update: When decay from advancement is active, a skill which just gained a rank is given a small buffer against immediate decay, including decay from time. This buffer lasts until it is consumed, and is reset (i.e. not cumulative) when you gain another rank in that skill.
Love the concept; I've long wished for a "use it or lose it" system regarding skills. It just seems realistic that skills would atrophy if not used regularly.
I'm holding off an endorsement until I see that it works properly, which could be a while since... well, by design, this works slowly.

The bug is in the "on skill-up" event handler, so it affects the on-advancement and buffer mechanics but NOT the over-time decay.

But nice work, and thanks for this mod!
EDIT: Yup, it works. Endorsing!
