This and Small Talk Speechcraft make speechcraft useful.

Very nice! Finally speechcraft has a use.

Edit - oh, and a little idea: perhaps it could use some of the generic race-specific lines instead of the cough sound? I'm sure the long list of generic dialogue included in the game has something fitting.
(E.g. "Can't we settle this peacefully?" etc. from when you attack a NPC unprovoked.)

But how would that work for non-vanilla races? I personally like to play Kawa-Khajiit(because I'd rather not feel the hint of disgust in myself for playing as a furry) and Dremora.

That's a good point, most mod-added races don't have any speech files. I suppose the cough could be used as a fallback choice if the race has no voice files.

This is greate for the bard class, as the description says "Intelligent and personable, they prefer to accomplish tasks with their words first, and sword second." And with bandits and such, that doesn't happen.

    Looks interesting

What about adding Fame/Infamy to the equation? The reasoning being that if you are very famous or infamous you can use that to your advantage.

"Do you know who I am?!! I am the Champion of Cyrodiil that's who! And if you don't stop your feeble flaying about I will stomp you like I stomped Mehrun Dagon!"

(okay, so he took some cred for fighting Dagon - who knows what the rumours have said)

This mod sounds great. The only thing I'd like to change, is the use of the 'activate' key. I use R-mouse button for this, and would worry about accidentally clicking during combat. Is there any way of adding a 'modifer key must be pressed at the same time' function. Ie. you have to hold Alt at the same time as pressing activate?

    Either way, good work!

This is a great idea. My current character leads a dual life as Lord of Castle Seaview by day and as a swashbuckling and charming rogue by night so it fits him well. Thank you, I will try it out and let you know.

@ pondereplay - from a technical perspective what you describe is a yield. Yield only works pretty much with those who are you're companions or followers with a high enough disposition. Enemies won't yield to you. This mod makes it so that you can convince most enemies (without the measurement of disposition, but rather the speechcraft i.e. how smooth a talker you are) to stop fighting you. In a sense its similar to yield but works for other things and doesn't rely on the disposition (the value of people liking you. Enemies don't normally like you which means yielding won't work

Ah Phitt, you make some cool mods. Though I never create characters who are slick tongued, the option to have it is useful for those who are skillful with their words rather than their swords. Keep it up Phitt!

Yes, you can do this in-game all ready, but from my understanding, this lets you stop combat with NPCs who are normally always aggressive. With the original system, they have to like you alot or they won't stop combat. With this one, it seems it can stop the combat weather they like you or not.

You can do this ingame anyway. Why make a mod for it. I hold block and activate ( spacebar ) the npc. They then either stop attacking or continue. From the description you have given, it would seem this mod does the same thing.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
