The sword in the barrel is an SE Trophy Sword and is only decoration, you can't take it.

Solving the easier problem first - if you don't want to pay so much, install the 1.42 version. Here you pay what you have
About the other problem I have no idea how this comes. There must be a mixup of the quest topics. Perhaps this companion mod has got the same name for some topics as I have in Cutters Estate.
You can perhaps try two tings: Get your companion mod loaded after the Cutter mod, but that might break the Cutter mod. The other possibility: Complete the Cutter quest and see, if the mixup still exists.
If that doesn't help, I can try to give the topics some more unique ID to avoid a mixup.
You'll get an update of the file when I got it here.
Hey, just dl'd your mod. Have a few issues with it, one being with compatability...
When I went to activate your mod, a message appeared saying that it would conflict with other mods that I had active. I figured it wasn't really a problem, since I couldn't see what it could conflict with, so I ignored it and continued on to checking out the mod itself.
After I loaded the mod, I got the quest and headed over to Cutter's (by far my favorite NPC in SI, heheh). I talked to her, got the note, and went on my merry way.
After leaving her place, I travelled back to Cyrodiil to drop off some of the junk I had in my inventory. While I was putting it away, a companion (from the companion mod) I had set to train while I was away was just walking around. Seeing this, I talked to him and scrolled down the list of choices (looking for the right option, since I'm new to CM), and I see two of the text options that appeared while I was talking to Cutter. They were either covering or being confused for other orders, seeing as when I clicked them, the companion said something relating to another option, which was apparently replace by the text.
Now, I don't know if this affects ALL CM companions, but it did affect mine, so I'd look into it if I were you; it's a pretty major bug. Also, I think the price for the mansion is a bit much (although I have yet to see the actual place itself). I'd be willing to search for 30 or 35 madness ore, or instead pay 15,000 gold. The prices you have are a bit much, and unless there's a reason behind them, not very player-friendly (also, double-check for typos/misspellings, as I found a few in the note/quest, such as "an forgotten uncle," which should be "a forgotten uncle").
Sorry for making you read that long-winded comment, but I hope this helps you out. It may seem I am being overly critical, but I'm really just trying to give you some tips. Seeing as your quest-system works is actually impressive, seeing as I wouldn't have a single clue as how to code quests (though I plan to learn in the near future). Well, good luck with the house!
