I've been using your mod along with PushTheWinButton's Ascension and Automatic Attributes and I have to say that I really like how these shaped my experience with the game this time around! At the beginning of the game, I was unable to wear a full suit of Iron Armor - as my Strenght was not high enough - but it was not that big of an issue. (I've donned an iron chest plate, a pair of iron gauntlets, green trousers, a green cloak, and a pair of leather boots, and off I went to adventuring!)
Later on, when my Strenght was higher I was able to wear a full set of heavy armor (steel and even dwarven) and I think it did make a difference?! I loved that as I started to find better equipment it not only provided better defense but was lighter as well, therefore I was faster in combat and, also had more capacity to carry more loot as well! I also use your other addon for weapons, this two together are a great combo!
It seems that this wasn't titled correctly, it's called realistic armour weights but there isn't anything realistic about it. A real steel Breastplate weighs in at roughly 2-3 kilograms (roughly 5 lbs.)....in Oblivion it weighs in at either 35 lbs or 35 kilograms (to be fair it does include 'pauldrons'...so that 2.25-2.5 kilogram figure we'll assume it's double despite this being an exaggeration....that means the armour is still 3 times the weight it should be....3 times!)....this plate armour doesn't even have mail or cloth underneath it, that 15-25 kilogram figure is for a full harness (although some were heavier.)
Strangely the set is only roughly twice the weight of proper plate armour (94 lbs vs the standard 40-65lbs that is the weight of standard Plate armour.)...other armours are even more ridiculously heavy.
Too bad that the modder didn't go all the way with this mod as he did with the weapons. Even with this mod armor is way too heavy. Increasing the weight of some armors, bad idea. Every armor should have gone down. It says this in wikipedia and other sources can confirm: "A complete suit of plate armour made from well-tempered steel would weigh around 15–25 kg(33-55 pounds).[2] The wearer remained highly agile and could jump, run and otherwise move freely as the weight of the armor was spread evenly throughout the body. The armour was articulated and covered a man's entire body completely from neck to toe."
It strikes me as a point to mention this, I can't remember where I read this (might have been daggerfall, for all I know). But Daedric armor is ebony that has had a daedra bound to it. It curses the wearer, and eventually the daedra in the armor will consume it's host.

You mistook the description. Steel and mithril weigh the same..."as they did in vanilla Oblivion." That last part got left out.
