I know its an old mod, but I've only just discovered it. I hope the Author sill checks it now and again and will be able to answer my question:

Does that armor elemental resistance buff apply to NPCs as well? Some times I feel as a caster of midas magic that some armored bad guys go down too easy. If it does apply, this mod would greatly increase my fun and challenge.

edit: ... once again, I just gave myself a reason why its important to read the whole description before asking a question.

i remember this mod, never downloaded but I remembered it today when I was getting owned by Spider Deadra and Storm Atronachs ripping me to bits with spells and I thought "Dang, I have have to go download that AR vs. Magic" and so here I am <img class=">. And I just noticed that rijiriyn made this, so that's a plus <img class=">

Firstly, it can't be done; simple as that.

Secondly, why would you want to? - This mod already adds your armour value to elemental attacks; what you just proposed is basiclly the same thing (convert to physical, so your armour reduces the damage by the same amount).

85 AR is to physical what 85% fire resist is to fire damage, so if the mod adds the same value to your elemental resistances at a 1:1 ratio then it does exactly what you proposed =p

It only improves your elemental resistance, all othermagic - drains, damage health, illusion spells etc yield 100% their normal effects.

    Very intresting mod.

Mages can wear armor too, since Oblivion doesn't impose attribute or level requirements to armor (just the weight limit and proficiency on armor type). So the mage PC can wear any armor, the problem are the mages NPCs wich are stuck to robes (mmm except battle mages) that's why necromancers get toast easily.

Instead of changing the armor wouldn't it be best to change so elemental spells do physical damage instead of magical, while a hurt or drain health spell would ignore it.

gottheim: This is more aimed at Mighty Magic users, projectiles are much harder to dodge in that and can easily wipe out player and NPC melee types in a single hit. Mages in that get quite an all round buff, including MUCH stronger shield spells, and conjured armour is actually pretty sweet.

However the overall balance improvements in Mighty Magic make it worth using, it just kicks the warrior class in the head a little too hard because Oblivion lacks any non-magical means of reducing damage from magical sources.

That seems nice, but maybe you should balance out armor rating for mages to compensate. Because as someone else pointed out, casters usually fight unarmored, and go down in a couple of hits. In addition, projectile spells are so slow dodging them is no trouble at all, not to mention they're rather weak, so the guy in full plate getting fried by a single spell doesn't happen that often.

Actually you are right about the faraday'sche cage.
Also it can be applied to your example with an armored guy to that extent that he's not moving.
however an armor is not ONE closed tin case but a moving metal conductor with shifting and shoven-in plates and other unknown material factors (don't forget about the very 'sweaty' guy inside) and should you happen to be hit by electricity while the plate (that is being called the conductor) at that time is unevenly or completly unconnected to the other plates, the charges cannot wander to theirs hearts content and the electricity will discharge into something else but the metal armor. + You get extra points when you're being electrocuted in mid air.

The result would be depending on charge: Something between a rather shocked looking guy or a warm can of corned beef.

BTW: I think that an "ebony armor" is by lore not a metal armor and physically speaking - You can't dodge a lightning... with or without armor.

Natsu666: rofl, no - check the Faraday cage link on wiki, it explicity points out it's an urban myth the whole "cars have rubber tyres" thing.

Water has a lower resistance than a human body so it too conducts around rather than into provided they are not touching the side or breaking the surface. Or thats what our physics teacher had to say on it anyway, you only have to look on rotten.com to see what happen if you mix electricity and shallow water however ;p
