I am no professional modder by any means, but I found a way to make the spiders work well. Since there are no normal attack or hand to hand movement animations, you have to make a custom combat style for the spiders that makes sure the spider only tries to use the animations it has. Additionally , you need to set a decent attack reach.
I have included a screenshot in this mod's image area of the settings I used. I hope somebody finds it useful.
Hello there, I just got done making a companion mod of one of these guys, the hairy purple one to be exact and I was wondering if I could upload the mod here, with proper credit of the spider models given to you and the others of course.
I did read what you said in the description, but this is my very first time using someone else's resources so I really wanted to be sure I wouldn't be doing anything bad by accident.
Edit: Okay.... two months later I do want to admit that today I uploaded my spider, with proper credits and linking back here, I hope that's okay.
F**k me, this thing made me crap myself just came outta nowhere and attacked. Fantastic work.
These Oblivion spiders look more realistic, then the Fallout New Vegas version..... Both Mods I will say, yet the Game Engine between games is a long time, yet New Vegas Fails big time...
HOLY F---! That creeped me out!! XDDD This has been bugging me... *Wink wink, lol pun* What armor are you wearing in the first picture? The purple one.

I used them in my mod here --> Cross Goodies
I was also having the "idle" problem.
