With the orbital update it seems this mod disables any way to save the game.

Just posting in case you haven't been made aware. Since some of the save mechanics have been changed in OMEGA, having the pak as it is shipped (file from Sep 19, 2023) active prevents the game from starting. (And boy are autosaves annoying! I literally never played Waypoint without your mod up until now :D )

Thanks for the heads up. I just updated the mod for Omega. (I'm aware though)

Having had used this mod i thought it would function just like it did before the auto save feature, but it just overrides the regular save you
get when entering and exiting the ship, making this mod redundant and pointless as you could just use said ship for saving anyway!

Please make this mod occupy and re-use the auto save slot for manual saves like the save beacon or planetary way points, and saves made by entering and exiting the ship into actual auto save like "it was before"!

Or change the auto save into a quick save instead at a press of a button, instead of saving automatically at set intervals.

The mod does what it says : it removes the auto save that just save your game without you know it anywhere at any time.
So yes, you won't have the previous save slot as before because Hello Games removed it, but at last you know where you saved last time and for modders, as long as you don't quit your ship or interact with a beacon, you can exit the game and come back at the exact same save spot as previously.
The 2 save options you mention jus't can't be done as the new save system is hard-coded. This mod is afaik the only tweak we can do to somehow revert to a controlled save scheme.

hello , we used to have 2 save slots:  one restore point slot, e.g when manually using save beacons. and one autoSave slot when exiting the ship. but seems this mod only uses 1 slot (restore point) for all of them and leaves one slot empty. would be nice to have both slots being used like the old versions

edit: got out of the ship on a space station and game glitched me on top of the space station and did a save there. games ruined. can't do anything now  X/

Is there a way to get the 1.3 version? The archive section does not have the downloads available and the 1.4 version doesn't seem to work on Xbox Game Pass.

I do not really see the point of this mod. It disables autosave yes. But manual save on save station or beacon and recovery save upon exiting a vehicle are still made to the same "Restore Point" save slot. Not sure if it's a bug or intended.

Yep, the new autosaving system was starting to annoy me, lol. Awesome work on this, Lo2k! Thank you for this! Endorsed!

I tried modding nms for the first time today. I followed the instructions in your "Installation notes for No Auto Saves.txt" Installation section only and (I also renamed the DISABLEMODS.TXT into ENABLEMODS.TXT) I did not do the next section "Merging mods using Mjjstral's AMUMSS"

I loaded up a previous game save (I was already inside a vehicle) I stepped out, a new Restore Point was created, I hit ESC to go to the menu to check the time of the save and my game froze then went back the the "Hello Games" logo but was still frozen, I have to "end task" in task manager and now everytimne I go into game it freezed and locks up. Even removing what I did to mod the game and going back to Vanilla my game freezes on that game save. I started a new game save, I got about 1 minutes into the game and it locked up again, I dont know what to do now.

Edit 1: I verified the game files in steam just to make sure nothing wasn't corrupted, all was okay.
Edit 2: I went back into the game (Vanilla), not only did the game lock up but my pc blue screened and restarted.
Edit 3: It seems pretty straight forward, but it's broken my game, I pasted in a backup of my game saves, started the game and it froze too, I dont know what to do.
Edit 4: I deleted my game saves, started the game fresh (not a re-install) I got 15 seconds into the game and it again stopped responding.
Edit 5: What ever happened ruined my 978.6hrs playthrough, I re-installed the game and my game still locks up after originally trying to install this mod, I don't know if it corrupted any registry files but it seems like it might have after the blue screen I got.

Oh I'm not blaming the mod for this, don't misunderstand, I am just stating what has happened since originally trying.

It seems you rather have a major issue and most probably a hardware one here.
In doubt, you can try to remove NMS completely and reinstall it in first place but I'm not confident it will really help.
In order, I would check your hard drive, your RAM and eventualy your CPU and GPU.
In any case, your issue goes beyond this mod in particular and modding in general.

Glad you were able to update so quickly. The forced autosaves continue to infuriate me to no end... Why can't they just make it an optional feature?
