any chance you can update. we got a update that has us fight a capital ship and it would be cool if we could turn it into a massive battle with our own
Unfortunately they completely changed how the freighters were being modelled in the game and seem to have removed most of the functionality required to make this work. Chances are very slim it will be making a return, atleast from me anyhow. Sorry.
I tried to replicate the mod's effect (without bugs) for the current game, but it is so utterly broken, that even diff...gets confused. It requires either original author to return and reapply the changes in correct places (cause right now, it messes most weapons up), or someone recreating it from scratch, totally.
Hi, I took another crack at trying to get this going again and it looks like they have completely rewritten how damage works in the game. I went through my original files, and there are large chunks of damage modelling that doesn't even exist to be used anymore. I attempted to rebuild it from scratch but after 2 10 hour sessions of getting nowhere, I've pretty much given up hope that this will be possible unless they natively add support for it (which I think they should). Sorry :(
Honestly begging for an update to this. I have a literal Dreadnought with a fleet of combat frigates and... they can't destroy a little pirate ship?? It's insane.
This mod has a major bug. In addition to increasing the damage of the freighter turrets, it also increases the damage of the player's Phase Beam ship weapon to insane levels (without any bonus modules, it produces nearly 500,000 DPS and one-shots everything that can be destroyed). My guess is that the freighter turrets and the player's phase beam share the same weapon definition.
Fun if you want to fly a tiny Death Star, but can certainly ruin any semblance of challenge in combat.
Sadly, can confirm it (174 000 in case of my ship, but the point stays the same). Would be nice if the mod could get upgraded/fixed, so holding my thumbs for it.
As a side note - even leaving the critical bug with player weapon power, freighter guns shouldn't do zero damage, indeed, but they shouldn't immediately vaporize everything they touch, either...
The game has changed significantly since I made this and I had to focus back on College and programming. If I get a chance I will look into it for you guys and see if I can figure out whats causing the issue. Ill keep yall posted and appreciate you guys using the mod :)
It should work as nothing is changing in respect to the freighters, and the way the living ships are implemented (I imagine) doesn't change the base scripting for the game.
