This mod allows for your fleet to actually defend you should you come into a situation that requires it. In the base game, freighters will shoot at the occasional pirate, and may even score a few hits, however they did no damage whatsoever (kind of pathetic when you look at the size of the guns).

This mod allows for your fleet to actually defend you should you come into a situation that requires it. In the base game, freighters will shoot at the occasional pirate, and may even score a few hits, however they did no damage whatsoever (kind of pathetic when you look at the size of the guns). This mod enables freighters to actually damage enemy ships, and all of the guns on your freighter will open up on its nearest target as long as they have scored any hits on your freighter (if you are out in the middle of space and enemy ships don't miss you and hit your freighter it will not shoot back this is a WIP and how the base game functions). This mod will more than likely be further expanded to include adding proper damage numbers to trader ships who may want to help you fight as they also do no damage.
Update 1.1: Freighters now have better accuracy, shoot continuously without having a max number of shots before disengaging and will continue to track the target if it goes out of visibility (before the freighter guns would lose interest completely as soon as it went out of range. This wouldn't reset until the freighter came out of, and went back into combat mode.
