Installation
- Locate the "movie" folder in the games directory. Most users will find it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139\data\movie
- Make a copy of the "movie" folder in case you want to revert back to the vanilla cutscenes.
- Replace the files inside the "movie" folder with the ones you extracted from the download.
Notes
Your PC must support HEVC/h265 decoding; most modern GPUs are capable of this.v1.1 uses h264 instead of h265- It's highly recommended to install Special K, as it enables the game to be played properly at high framerates, improves performance and improves framerate consistency. - Works with both English and Japanese, as the audio is stored separately.
- Also works if you're running the game at just 60fps.
Miscellaneous
- Interpolation was done with Flowframes 1.29.0 using RIFE 3.1
- Encoding settings used:
h265h264 (since v1.1), crf 15, 4:2:0 sampling, very slow preset - Thanks to user "NSA Cloud" on the NieR:Modding discord for sharing how to convert the .arc files to video files
