This mod enables all companions from Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 to state Essentials even on Hardcore by default without the requirement of a esp slot. Requires TTW so the main script can compile.

Overview

This mod enables all companions from Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 to state Essentials by default without the require of a esp slot. Requires TTW so the script can compile without issues or errors (If non TTW maybe JIP LN NVSE will return a error from a non FormID found resulting in non compilation)

I'm using JIP LN NVSE Script Runner's ln_* file format so it will be espless and the script will be applied just on new game and game load.

Vanilla Companions set to Essentials on main file are:
Fallout 3: Butch, Charon, Clover, Cross, Dogmeat, Fawkes, Jericho, RL-3 (8)
Fallout New Vegas: Arcade, Boone, Cass, ED-E, Lily, Raul, Rex, Veronica (8)

Updates after February 8, 2025:
- added Rosa Companion to Essential
- added Willow Companion to Essential
- added Russell Companion to Essential

Why this mod?
- Well, i'm playing on a hardcore mode without some extras like unbrokable default weapon and magical ammo of Companions that i removed from their FormLists with xEdit and i needed some balances in order to keep a good gameplay. So i maded this and set their unconscious time to 60 seconds instead of the default 10 seconds if im not mistaken.
- Also, i tried using the "Essential Companions" from lStewieAl's Tweaks and Engine Fixes but it will affect every NPC that get under the Companion System. In the meanwhile i just want to be selective on which Companion will be Essential, then i made this mod in order to achieve this.


**Every 3 usable variants of ED-E has been set to 1 (Just the Disable that still is Default)
**If using JIP CCC maybe requires rehires to update in the HUD


How to Install

Just use a Mod Manager (Easier way) or drag all files to Data folder in Fallout New Vegas folder.


Compatibility

FNV Difficulty Hardcore - Compatible
Functional in Hardcore and every other difficulties since the script overwrites the default FormIDs of each Vanilla Companions on each game load, so it will be persistent between sessions.

JIP Companions Command and Control - Compatible
It will shows that the Vanilla Default Companions are Essential by defaults since the scripts occurs on events Game New and Game Load.
Hiring and Re-Hiring Companions will stand effective, if your Vanilla Companion was already Hired and not being Essential, just unhire and hire once again, it will work.

TTW - Fawkes T51b Power Armor, Unique Dogmeat - TTW or similars mods that changes Companion Data, Meshes or Textures - Compatible
Anythings that changes companion data, even if hardcode then to "Essentials", this mod will be able to overwrite since it loads after on every new game and game load.

Any other mod ESPless that changes the Essential - Parcial Compatible
If my mod load afters, compatible. If not, not compatible.


Uninstall

Uncheck the mod on your Mod Manager or remove the file manually
