Changes Terrifying Presence to either a trait with its own drawbacks, or as a Perk with a Charisma requirement instead of Speech. Compatible with Dynamic Terrifying Presence NVSE.

Permissions and credits
One specific thing that has always irked me about the Terrifying Presence perk is that I associate it with a very scary, monstrous character whose proficiency in articulate rhetoric or pleasant conversation would be straight-up out-of-character, and who shouldn't have to wait eight levels before remembering just how scary and monstrous they are. To remedy this, here is my own contribution to the steadily growing pile of Terrifying Presence retools.

Trait Version: This makes Terrifying Presence a trait that's available at character creation. Its only positive effect is access to the usual Terrifying Presence dialogue options; it does not add, remove, or change any such options. The drawback of this trait is that your Speech and Barter skills are subtracted by 15, effectively "un-tagging" them. An optional file includes an additional drawback of becoming more likely (25% 15%) to become addicted to chems.
  • New! Another optional file makes added addiction susceptibility the trait's sole drawback, but it's even higher (35% 25% more likely).
  • The orginal, more punishing values are still available by downloading the older versions of the files.

Note that (ignoring the effect on all of your skills from LCK), this trait will reduce your Speech and Barter skills to 0 if you have CHA 5 or below. This trait will not subtract your skills into the negatives, but starting with low base Speech and Barter will still effectively mitigate the first drawback of the perk. This is why the additional drawback of an increased addiction chance is recommended, but I know that for some, the tanking of Speech and Barter is enough.

Perk Version: This makes Terrifying Presence available at Level 2 instead of 8, and makes the requirement 6 Charisma instead of 30 Speech. You don't need to be good at talking to take this one, you just need to have a force of personality! Even if that personality is "bloodthirsty maniac." And hey, Charisma isn't useless anymore!

Recommended Mods:
  • Anything that gives Charisma additional use (such as Better Charisma or Charisma Affects Reputation) will probably make pumping that former dump stat a little more tolerable if you use the perk version.
  • New! A compatibility patch for Dynamic Terrifying Presence NVSE is now available as an optional file. While my mod and that one are fully compatible out-of-the-box mechanically, Dynamic Terrifying Presence is scripted to overwrite the description of Terrifying Presence in perk menus. If this bothers you, then this compatibility patch provides a new and bespoke description of Terrifying Presence that incorporates the effects of both Dynamic Terrifying Presence and whichever version of my mod that you're using. The compatibility patch contains three .ESPs, you only need to enable the one that corresponds to whichever version of the main file you're using, you only need it if you're using a Trait version, and this compatibility patch fully integrates the effects of Dynamic Terrifying Presence so that you do not need to use the original mod alongside it.
