About this mod

Just like the original mods, this mod adds music and (working!) radio songs on top of the original soundtrack. Now revised with fixes, new additions and once again available for TTW and NV.

This mod started out relatively small. At first it only added some classic Fallout OSTs from 1 & 2 to the Mojave only on top of the vanilla tracks. Later I remade that mod to cover both TTW and the Mojave and add even more soundtracks from Fallout: Nevada and Fallout: Sonora. With time I chose to incorporate radio additions.
The latter however did not quite work out and the former had a good start but I was still unhappy with the atmosphere overall (at least on the TTW part). Since New Vegas has a lot of unique areas where a different set of music is played, while Fallout 3 succeeded by only having five of those sets (one for Military locations, one for Battle, one for Exploration and one for Public areas / big cities and one for Tranquility Lane).
I didn't want to overshadow the vanilla tracks. So I decided to revise the mod, create a few more of these music sets for distinct locations in TTW but also balancing the loadout of tracks on the Mojave side.
In the end I decided to release it as a Revision. So, here we are.

As mentioned, this mod adds music on top of the existing OST, specifically:

  • selectable plugins with or without radio sets (read below) and TTW or NV verisons respectively.
  • OSTs from Fallout: Nevada and Fallout: Sonora (two well known fan-made mods and total conversions for Fallout 2 - big shoutout to Nobody's Nail Machine for allowing usage of these fantastically composed soundtracks, please check out the two links that will lead you to Youtube to take a listen to it).
  • some selected few OSTs from Fallout 4 and Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 (the former mainly for the Capital Wasteland, the latter mainly for the Mojave).
  • classic Fallout OSTs (Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics).
  • the mod will also add some more Fallout 3 soundtracks to NV locations where it fits
  • there are also additional song selections for both Galaxy News Radio (TTW) and Radio New Vegas, all changes made to fit the vibe of the respective radio station (this is optional, you can choose not to use any radio edits in the FOMOD).
  • Radio New Vegas will now play the songs from Talent Pool, as originally intended.
  • two new custom songs for Gomorrah, inspired by Dracomies amazing New Vegas Redesigned 3 (I recommend using the Revised version nowadays though, which doesn't include these changes in the newest version anymore and therefore is compatible).
  • new level up sounds (optional feature), instructions are as follow:
    Search for "bAlternateLevelupSounds" in Stewie Tweaks' .ini and set it to 1.
    Afterwards find the section "[Alt Levelup Sound]" and replace it with this:
    ; Play sSoundA every iLevelA levels
    iLevelA = 5

    ; Play sSoundB every iLevelB levels
    iLevelB = 10

    ; editor ID of sound to play every iLevelA levels
    sSoundA = MUSsuccess2

    ; editor ID of sound to play every iLevelB levels
    sSoundB = MUSsuccess3

  • Gomorrah was planned to use a custom radio to play the two new custom tracks, however no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the speakers to play the songs. I managed to make a workaround for it, however when you go into V.A.T.S. or leave and reenter the premise, the song will restart. Once I figure out how, the casino radio station will be used instead.
  • Probably going to play around a bit more with some of the tracks that have been left either unused or only in some specific locations. A few tracks will still remain tied to certain locations but you can make suggestions in the comments.
  • Whatever comes to mind and fits the mod's goal, whether it be more radio, ambience and / or combat tracks.

Just use MO2 or Vortex and the FOMOD installer or drag the folders and the plugin you want into the Data folder of the game. (honestly though, just use MO2)
Since I am not allowed to distribute OSTs from Fallout 4 or Fallout: Tactics, follow this guide link or the link to the guide creator's discord server.

If you want to backport this mod to Fallout 3, hit me up with a DM for permission. When using this mod / assets from this mod, you will have to credit me and the composers responsible for the soundtracks.
As for the rest, check the permissions tab.

This mod is NOT compatible with:

  • other mods that edit existing Media Location Controllers (meaning, above mentioned music sets for various locations). Adding new ones should be ... fine, as long as they don't overlap / are placed in the same area that mine are
  • Replacers (basically mods that replace the original music files of the game) should work fine, as long as no direct edits (for example, through a plugin) are made
  • Radio mods that edit Galaxy News Radio (TTW) or Radio New Vegas are entirely incompatible, if you decide to use the Full version of the mod WITH its radio edits
  • Otherwise, like with new areas added to the game alongside custom music for them and such should be fine

Bethesda Games Studios - despite all the hate they get nowadays (whether rightfully or not), they did manage to translate Fallout quite well into the 3D world, at least imo and with Fallout 3 serving as my introduction to the series, it still holds a special place in my heart despite its flaws. Hopefully, they return to form for future installments of both Elder Scrolls and Fallout. It'd be a shame otherwise.

Obsidian Entertainment - Obviously, since they made Fallout: New Vegas and made improvements on a lot of things (even if not all of them) from the previous iteration, making it one of - if not the most beloved Fallout title to date.

Mark Morgan - Obviously, as the composer for the original two Fallout games. He set the base tone for the franchise.

Inon Zur - Just as Mark Morgan set the base tone, for me, Inon Zur managed to incapsulate the same feeling, especially in Fallout 3. Loved his work in other games like Crysis (now guess where my nickname's from) and loved his work in this franchise especially.

Nobody's Nail Machine - Show him some love! He created amazing tracks and although most of them, at least for me, fit the most as dungeon or urban / creepy exploration tracks, it still feels a lot like the classictracks. And, of course, big thanks and a big shoutout go to him for allowing me to use his tracks!

tostikaas tunes - also made some banger soundtracks for the upcoming F4NV (and more), check it out!
