There's a mod called "The Frontier - Liberated" that I've been working on related to the cars in general, though I must be up front that I haven't tested it fully with the clunky tanks or those ugly bighorners. If you plan on using it with this mod here, I'd recommend not going for those particular kinds of "vehicles" for the time being.
On the plus side? Not only does it cut out a lot of the forced things from The Frontier, it also has some quality of life improvements like not making NPC's become hostile from honking your horn or damaging any vehicles. Oh yeah, and you can have non-humanoid companions like Rex along for the ride.
I was reading the description and maybe I misunderstand if I download it I can't do the Frontier mod anymore? or does it just get rid of the usual way you'd start it??
Any version of JIP past 54.84 seems to break the tank turret rotation alignment, so that the turret is not actually pointing at the direction where your crosshair is.
Also, as far as I know, friendly NPCs can become hostile under certain conditions, i.e. if you honk your horn or have your vehicle damaged near them.
At least the issues in the second paragraph can be remedied by using the following mod: "The Frontier - Liberated"
If you wish to downgrade to an older JIP version instead (which might break newer mods who are depending on JIPs most recent features), you can find several compatible versions (i.e. 55.83) in the Discord server of The Frontier mod.
I really want the cars, they sound like a fun travel method for the Mojave... but I won't install a giant 30GB digital paperweight just to use them. A shame.
The original modder is Xilandro, but he's decided not to release his standalone car mod. I think the reason why is because some people kept harassing him to release the car mod immediately and he didn't like that.
Hey could you add the CorvegaV8 and the deluxeV8 from the mod "Cars in Wastelands" to the terminal? It'd be great to be able to purchase them instead of having to find them. (Edit: It'd also be great if you could add an optional version of the mod where the vehicle prices are much higher.)
I wouldn't bother with that in the least. It's better to have your vehicles in a non-janky fashion that doesn't involve TheZomX stealing work from gosh knows wherever just to pack them into their build.
Truth is, I worked on those two vehicles you mentioned, and the Taxi in particular. Having did the extra model work, retooled the handling and skeletons, all sorts of deep stuff. Yet, he never asked me to use them either, he just kinda threw them in there and expected me to not notice. It's, to put it briefly, very frustrating.
In short, instead of using "Cars In Wasteland" I would honestly recommend using separate plugins per vehicle direct from their authors, since The Frontier already comes with Mod Limit Fix, it'll handle it from there.
Also, I plan on officially releasing those 3 vehicles officially on Nexus Mods sooner or later, in their own package, professionally, perhaps even sometime this month. It'd be more advisable to work with that when it comes out instead of bothering with Zom's thing.
Idk if this is possible but a really cool adition maybe either as a seperate file or mod, is there any way you can make a file that changes the fuel system to micro fusion cells, like it is in the classic fallouts?
I think that would be awesome to implement, but I don't personally know enough about the Frontier vehicles system to do it myself, plus it's outside the scope of this mod. I might do it in the future if I can find out how.
The fact that the authors of the original mod made their vehicle system use gasoline tells you everything you need to know about their lack of knowledge of Fallout lore, and then some.
I may be able to help there, and will be updating this mod at some point to include "Fusion Batteries" as a fuel source replacing the references to gasoline and such.
EDIT: It's been added, and I plan on updating it further to make it so the now fusion-powered vehicles don't emit fumes like gasoline-powered cars do.
Nice. I'm sure there's plenty of people who appreciate having cars to zoom around in, and ways to maintain them.
Some people, for various reasons, aren't interested in the bulk of the mod content it comes along with, and they have the right to feel that way.
Me? Briefly, I made a mod that aims to minimalize the impact The Frontier has on normal, non-Frontier-interested playthroughs. It's available here on Nexus Mods, as well.
Let's just say it's a very liberating thing to not be forced to start the bulk of the content while still having the ability to drive around in vehicles in other parts of the wasteland.
I think I'll give this one a try and see how it handles.
hey you think i can use that file mr. knight has been throwing around that adds all of the vehicle assets without any other frontier content? if so could you give me an idea as to how?

What modder made the cars originally?

EDIT: The vehicles have been uploaded, and I've been given the responsibility of maintaining TheZomX's mod on a separate branch after some discussion with said author.
I feel bad for the guy, to be honest, and hope he's well. I was much too harsh, and I apologize for that.
