fantastic and a must have! but i have to ask, will there be a puppy model in the future for the lil guy preadulthood, as opposed to (what i'm guessing looks like) a legion mongrel model shrunk down as a puppy standin?
Oh lord I wish I had something more helpful than "use a puppy model" lol, I know Nexus is goofy about using outside assets within certain boundaries. I'd love to volunteer if I could, but I'm not much of a modeler, either. I was just curious as to whether you had designs on changing it, opportunity permitting, rather than try and implicate that you HAD to change or that I would be of much help. Hope that's not too obnoxious-entitled-mod-user of me, just idle curiosity.
Either way, the missus and I are over the moon about the mod and the concept (mongrel model or not, he's a lil pup!) so you def made two weirdo lesbians real happy, and I'm grateful. Thanks again <3
But left the other puppy meshes in for anyone who wants to use a different puppy.
In geck you'd just change the wldDusty00 model to a different one.
In fnvedit instead: Open dusty.esp > goto creature > wldDusty00 > NIFZ Model then rename huskypuppy.nif to one of the other ~412kb nifs located in (Dusty)/meshes/creatures/puppy/ > save and done.
Also added heal health & limb dialogue and a finally the vest found here (toggleable).
So, weird little problem. My other companions keep aggroing to Dusty seemingly out of the blue. I can't get but a couple steps in (just got the first whistle, Heel) and suddenly I've got my people opening fire on a puppy. Any ideas or workarounds? I don't think it's *potentially* my end but a quirk of the engine, but I still don't know how to fix it.
also, am I mistaken or do the Dusty Tips do 88+ Points Melee? that seems a lil excessive
I'll check this out a bit later this week. Might have added a faction that's iffy (creature faction perhaps).
I set him to player level mult ×0.5 (iirc), but did a lot of my testing at lvl 40+ which.. maybe I just assumed he was buff because.. ha. I check it out and try to reign in damage a bit!
Update: Created (on my phone! Not yet tested?) and added to "optional files" on the download page.

Can't be done, sorry :(
Kidding! totally can ofc but how about i walk you (and anybody interested in changing the texture(s) to whatever) through it instead?! (Similar process for 99.9% of mods out there)
2 options, temporary or as a mod:
-------
First option, temporary. Will reset when you reinstall Dusty.
In the folder (/Dusty/ mod directory) goto "/textures/creatures/wld/" you'll find DustySkin00.dds - DustySkin04.dds (04 being the eldest / final 'Dusty'l
In the mod you posted you'll find (mod) "/textures/creatures/maxdog/" dog.dds
Copy dog.dds into "../wld/" and rename it to DustySkin04.dds (you may need to delete the original first) and you should be set!
Done! Load up your game and the new texture sould be there!
---- Alternatively--- Creat a mod!----
Somewhere on your harddrive (doesn't matter where, in "/downloads/" perhaps?) create the folder "NightmareGatsDogSkin", inside of that a folded named "textures" inside of that a folder names "creatures", and inside of that a folder named "wld".
Eg: /Downloads/NightmareGatsDogSkin/Textures/CrEatUres/wld/ (fnv don't care about caps lol)
Copy dog.dds from maxdog into that new /wld/ folder.
Rename dog.dds to DustySkin04.dds.
Zip it all up! Basically, go back out of /NightmareGatsDogSkin/ , right click it and zip!
You've created your first (legit! texture replacer) mod "NightmareGatsDogSkin"! Open your mod manager, select NightmareGatsDogSkin.zip > install!
So long as this is after my mod (or whatever other mod you might be retexturing) in the load order it will overwrite the og textures.
-------
(Let me know if this is too much, I don't have much power for my laptop, winter, yay, but I'll get it done if you don't / can't / w.e. If you *do*! Throw it up on the nexus and i'll link to your mod instead!)

And spot on id! I was kind of going for a stray puppy look, idk. I'm not much of a modeler but can do some basic stuff, what were you thinking?
(And heads up, new minor update)

Anywho, glad you're enjoying it!

Forced to dismiss my other companions but was able to bring him to both Big MT and Lonesome Road no problem.
He's about 2 to 1 vs. Roxie (note! Heel2 "call off" didn't work in this case! Sorry Roxie :/)
Tunnelers were throwing him around like a toy, Sorry Dusty!
