I recently heard the original planned lore and background of The Vipers again after listening to development info from the original Fallout and Van Buren. I was wondering if someone had made a mod to overhaul the faction accordingly and was surprised to see that it hadn't been tackled yet.

In the main file I've given The Vipers poisonous bone weaponry as well as bone armor to go along with  bows and poisonous arrows thanks to B42 Bows.

In the alternate main file I've added poisonous weaponry to The Vipers in the form of weapons that were unplayable (presumably cut) from Honest Hearts, in addition to the bows and poisonous arrows.

Here are some excepts from various sources about the original background and methods used by the clan.
Raiding primarily at night, Vipers preferred stealth to brute force, using a variety of melee weapons made from bone and laced with paralytic pit viper venom to incapacitate their victims, robbing them and taking the captives back to sacrifice them to the Gods of the Pit. They were known to use bone armor, crafted from bone strips wrapped tightly in leather and worn around the body.

The Vipers: The second clan, the Vipers, are mysterious followers of an ancient religion (or so they claim). They usually only come out at night to hunt for food or to conduct raids. They are very ruthless when it comes to combat. They prefer stealth to strength. They usually carry bone knives dipped in Pit Viper venom. This poison, when in the blood stream, paralyzes the victim. Most victims captured in this way are taken back to their hideout.

Fallout Bible Entry #6

[The Vipers]...attracted the attention of the Brotherhood, who decided that the raiders would make excellent fodder for training exercises. However, they underestimated the religious fervor of the Vipers. John Maxson's elderly father led a squad of trainees in power armor against the Vipers, confident that the armored shells would be impervious to their weapons. He was correct, up until he removed his helmet and was nicked by a poisoned arrow.

INSTALLATION

All files require you to have the Honest Hearts DLC

Use MO2 for your mod manager.

The first main file requires the following mods and instructions to be followed to work correctly:
B42 Bows

Bone Armor  [needed for assets; you can hide/disable/delete the .esp file(s)]

Type 3 Bone Armor [needed for assets; you can hide/disable/delete the .esp file(s)] (THE REGULAR VERSION NOT BnB, I know it says Type 3 but I'm using Type 4 and it seems to be fine, haven't noticed any clipping or weird weighting with the armor and should work fine while using vanilla body types but there may be some clipping with the armors. I didn't notice anything too bad in my very brief testing with vanilla female bodies. )

Bone Harvester - Tribal Cannibal [needed for assets; you can hide/disable/delete the .esp file(s)]

If you do not install these mods correctly there will be no weapons or armor for your vipers in game, and you will be met with missing mesh triangles everywhere around them. The armors and weapons are NOT included with this mod.

The second main file

requires all of the mods above except for B42 Bows.

The third main file

requires only B42 Bows, this version includes bone armors graciously provided and made by CarlZee. This version should work fine with any body type and is catered to those who only use Vanilla Body Types.

COMPATIBILITY
