Inspired by STALKER, an ESP-less mod that adds radiation healing over time to most alcohols in New Vegas and its DLCs. (UPDATE: And now TTW, too!)

What does this mod do?

Alcohol in New Vegas isn't particularly useful. Buffing your strength or charisma for a bit can only go so far, and the risk of addiction seldom makes it worth it without a high survival skill. What is very useful on the other hand is RadAway, and it's a fairly uncommon resource. Besides cave fungus, it's the only reliable consumable source of radiation removal in the entire game. Inspired by the STALKER series, this mod adds the following effects to alcohol:

  • Battle Brew: -1 Rad/s, 5s (-5 total rads)
  • Dixon's Whiskey: -1 Rad/s, 5s (-5 total rads)
  • Whiskey: -1 Rad/s, 10s (-10 total rads)
  • Scotch: -1 Rad/s, 10s (-10 total rads)
  • Jake Juice: -1 Rad/s, 10s (-10 total rads)
  • Wine: -1 Rad/s, 10s (-10 total rads)
  • Wasteland Tequila: -1 Rad/s, 14s (-14 total rads)
  • Vodka: -2 Rad/s, 8s (-16 total rads)
  • Absinthe: -2 Rad/s, 8s (-16 total rads)
  • Large Wasteland Tequila: -1 Rad/s, 20s (-24 total rads)
  • Moonshine: -3 Rad/s, 8s (-24 total rads)

When choosing these values, I tried to take into account the in-game value of the item, the actual rarity of it, the volume of the bottle, as well as the alcohol's real-life proof, with the importance of those factors being skewed in certain directions on some items (Moonshine is huge for example, but has a higher rad per second count to emphasize the strength of the alcohol)

These values are not affected by your survival skill, just like how Cave Fungus's rad removal isn't affected by it either (If anyone knows the reference that determines what the survival skill targets, let me know and I'll make an optional patch! I cannot for the life of me find it).

Installation

Requires xNVSE, JIP LN, and JohnnyGuitar

gr_AlcoholRads.txt goes in NVSE/Plugins/Scripts. Or you know, just use a mod manager and it'll do it for you.

Compatibility

These changes are made using a script, and thus compatibility should be universal! If you have another mod that does the exact same thing as this, such as Alcohol Anti-Radiation Tweak, the effects might double up. But y'know, do what you want, I'm not your mom.

It should? work with Sweet6Shooter's Survival Food Healing Duration Framework, but I have not tested it. It will either not affect this at all, or it will make the duration scale with your survival skill and this mod might get a little overpowered (P.S: If you wanna tell me in the comments if these mods work together or have any conflicts I don't know about, I'll update this part of the description).
