About this mod

Small mod that shows the total amount of kills the player has on their weapon. Modder's resource and not actually implemented in-game.

Hello All!
This "Kill Counter" shows the total amount of kills your player has and updates every kill. Similar to CSGO's stattrak but different as this one tracks lifetime kills. Having specific counters for specific guns would require different scripts and workarounds. This mod basically puts the data line "Total Things Killed" from the pip-boy onto your gun. You can put this on essentially any weapon including melee weapons maybe even armor but no testing has been done for that. Putting it on a weapon only requires a little work in NifSkope.
This being a modder's resource, there's nothing in this mod except for the template, required script, and textures. Modders will have to add this to their own mods and use these files or set this as a requirement. This is meant to be more of a fun mod than a utility mod.
I will showcase it on unique weapons in the future.

Pretty much have all the script extenders.

This mod should be compatible with virtually everything.

NOTES:

-Safe to remove and add whenever but don't get into the habit of turning mods on/off mid save in general :)
- The counter resets every game start-up, simply kill something for it to update.
- The only potential issue I saw when testing was that the counter keeps counting in either 1st or 3rd person not both, switching views skips whatever kills you had in the other perspective. Not a big deal though since they both show your total kills anyway.

As a user, install like any other mod. I recommend MO2. Load order should not affect the script.

In order to use this mod as a modder, all you have to do is the following:

- Make sure to backup all NIFs somewhere safe before starting
- Note that I am assuming you already have a weapon set up in-game and a working NIF.

1: Take my template NIF and Open with Nifskope

2: Open your receiving NIF, the weapon you want to put this counter on for example.

Now you should have them both opened next to each other.

3: Copy the NiNode named "Prototype1_KillCounter" by right clicking it, "Block"->"Copy Branch" and then right-click the BSFadeNode/NiNode of your recieving Nif and "Block"->"Paste Branch"

4: Now right click the "Prototype1_KillCounter" NiNode in the recieving NIF after it has been copied over and "Transform"->"Edit" then a pop-up will appear. Now you can move it around to suit your needs. Save afterwards.

5: No more needs to be done and you can test in-game.

Video Example

NOTES:
- If you add this to any moving parts, like a slide on a pistol, make sure the "Prototype1_KillCounter" NiNode is put under the moving part's animated NiNode.
- Placement within the receiving NIF should not matter unless you're putting it on a moving part.
- This mesh adds about 2k verts to your model/NIF, in my experience FNV has
issues with NIFs that have above 10k vertices. If your model is at this limit
adding my counter may introduce stutters and whatnot.

- You can build custom meshes around the counters or even make your own. The naming conventions are the important part as the script specifically targets the names of the counters.
The same goes for different fonts for the numbers, I included a GIMP template where you can put your own font if you know how to do that.
- I use anonx1987's battle rifle model in my screenshots.

If you're having trouble, write a post with a description of your problem and I'll try to help.

Currently there is the Prototype 1 version which looks like someone put
together in their garage as a proof of concept.
More will come in the
future if the demand is there.

I do have some ideas:
Spoiler:
Show

Advanced Prototype: A Scifi looking mesh to match alien/energy weapons.

Commercial: Complete product with “polymer encasing and antenna for stronger durability” for regular weapons

Advanced: A complete product for energy style weapons

Barebones: Meant for knives/melee weapons or just a lightweight version in the form of
scratches, Like CSGO StatTrak on Knives. This could work better on anything
from armor (Gloves/Helmets for example) to melee weapons.

To be clear, nothing is in production just yet. I will work on this mod on and off.

Sweet6Shooter: Made the entire script and made this all possible.
Luca Giardina: I used their Sci-Fi water tank as a base mesh for the battery.
Blender3D: I used their Bomb Controller as a base mesh.
Scout: I used their Cubemap for some parts of my mesh.
