Mod edits the doors at the Mojave Outpost and with Classic Adobe buildings they are shoved inside the building and inaccessible.
EDIT: I have uploaded a small patch that I have made to make these mods compatible. If you would like me to take it down just contact me and let me know.

This is the most satisfying, Legion companion I've used so far, particularly Titus's simple but neat backstory. Also really like the environments for the quest.

Can you make him toggleable to be unessential in  a future update? I generally prefer my companions to be mortal.

finally actually did his quest and talked with him (took a while to do a legion run), and i'm surprised. didn't expect the white legs and gabban conection, and that's really neat (i can really see someone thinking that you invented gabban given not many people don't really see him in-game, lol)

aas for the mod in itself, there's some small things that i think could be improved. it feels odd that Titus call a Centurion a ''Centurian'', with the ''sen'' pronunciation of the C even, same as how he says ''see-zur'' instead of the legion ''kai zar''. Also, could have just more dialogue really, felt that the dialogues and npcs were interesting but a bit too simple, especially Titus as his quest is a bit...idk, feels a bit too expositive, like, the literal reward is having him as a companion instead of caps or resources, as it would be normal for a job like this. i think something better for it could be that he offers caps, but after the job's done, he would say that he's a bit bored since he's generally more of a wanderer, but has not much to do since he's stationed at the cove and doing nothing, so you could use you could have a dialogue that you ask him if he would like to travel with you, and it would have unique responses depending on your reputation, being accepted by the legion being the requirement (you could remove the requirement for the initial quest too, as to mimic how it's done in the vanilla game with Cass, Boone, Arcade and etc). And when you have the rep, you would need to speak with Aurelius as to allow you to have him as a companion (no speech check required as it would be seen as a way to him to do his job as a legionary, since he didn't had much jobs for him atm, and could also be seen as your watcher, being responsible to keep eye on you in case you go haywire against the legion)

Also, this is personal but i think he should be better with guns than melee weapons, as the white legs are more known for their big guns, and well, they have the .45 smg as their signature weapon, the ''Storm Drums'' and all, so you could have that as his initial companion gun (if you want a unique model, could use this one https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57967 for his smg, tho you would need to ask for permissions of course), and also it would be neat if he had a dialogue mentioning Ulysses, given he's very important to the White Legs, to the point that they even adopted his hairstyle, had the nickname ''flag bearer'' for him and etc

besides that, there's not much really, i just found weird that there's another NCR general in the mojave even though Oliver's still there. Feels a bit odd, only thing i could think was that these were desertes that hauled this general to the mojave in specific, and he wasn't stationed in the Mojave, but well, i couldn't find an explanation as to why he's there so idk. And why the deserters have such good weapons? like, most of them spawn with LMGs and Anti-Materiel Rifles too, feels odd that *deserters* would get this type of weaponry, when their ranger only uses a .44 magnum, lol. But well, i think that's probably what i think i wanted more, just more dialogue and some more explanation to some things, since it feels a bit too basic right now, but still, really cool idea (also sorry for the big text)

Hey, glad you likes all the little details. Also don't worry about the big text, i enjoy a nice in-depth review. Can i touch on a couple points you made?

Pronunciations: Lore wise, the difference in pronunciations is another very small detail about this game that many people glance over, as with some of the other things you noticed. You have a sharp eye for these things i see. Devout followers of Caesar call him by "kai zar" where as people who just know of his name call him "see zur". With the way i wrote the character and the backstory i gave him, it was meant to be a bit of a hint as to what he really thinks of his position. He isn't devout to Caesar at all, it's simply a position he's worked his way into with his skillset after making a trade for his life. He of course was melted into the legion like most other tribes; by force.

Simplicity: This is a fair point and a very true one. I always did mean to go in and add much much more to him in the sense of reactive dialogue based on areas he sees like boone does and much more dialogue. I wanted to do another quest with him after you travel with him for awhile and much more but time got the better of me and alas he rests as what he is. Time is a beautiful thing though, i may jump back into it soon and guess what? This was my favorite mod i made i think so this would probably be the first one i touch. Oh and to comment on the "why would he offer to travel right off the bat". That could have been handled better for sure, but again to bring it back to your original point, i wanted to expose players to another less known about/ less explored area of the legion - the frumentarii. I was always so disappointed that you couldnt engage with them besides the 3 or so encounters with Vulpes. So maybe i got a bit of a trigger finger in getting the frumentarii vibe into peoples hands. :p

Titus' weapon: Haha, youre a sharp eyed player indeed! Man i struggled with the storm drum problem for days.. I wanted to give him that gun so bad to finish off the white leg vibe but in my play tests no matter what i did to his unique version i couldnt get him to not kill things way too quickly. It felt bad to finally get him as a buddy and have him steal every bit of your XP. Then i had the realization.. "wait dude.. hes a frumentarii. Hes an assassin in the shadows. He was chosen to be this guy in the legion BECAUSE of his skillset. ILL JUST GIVE HIM A UNIQUE WARCLUB!" So i made a sick black and red warclub and he gets to be an assassin and doesnt steal all your xp :)

Ulysses: I already made a connection to Gabban, i didnt want to make a connection to yet another dude and make him seem like everyone knows him or something. Man youve never heard of this dude before but he knows gabban, vulpes, caesar, ulysses, a centurion youve never heard of before, the main centurion in cottonwood? Seemed too far to make him also speak of Ole Uly. I REALLY wanted to make a connection to Silas though. In the expansion i do in the future Silas is for sure getting a tie in.

Another general/Damwar mask: I'll admit it does suck that i had to resort to adding another general but I needed 2 things to for sure happen. 1) I needed the player to do something so important to the legion that it would justify accepting the player into the frumentarii AND also gaining the trust of Titus with 1 single action. and 2) I yet again (you mentioned the damwar mask) wanted to allow the player to have a playable generals outfit since the only time its seen is at the end of the game on an npc and you never even get to use it. Same with the damwar mask. 2 really cool things that never got to be used at all and i needed my mod to allow it. You know what i could have done? I could have had a dead frumentarii with the generals outfit on cuz he tried to pretend to be a general and got killed. That way the player still gets the items but it doesnt mess with your head that theres another general. Again when i re-write this stuff i might do that.

Deserters weapons: Ya know ive seen somebody else bring this up before or maybe it was just you in another post i dont remember but when i created the inventory of the deserters i made sure they only had service rifles. Unless your leveled lists were forcing them to have better guns they SHOULD NOT EVER spawn with ANY gun besides a service rifle. The boss took the generals magnum and liked it so much that he kept it as his personal sidearm. Makes me mad that the desert experience got messed with by having LMGs firing at you and then finishing it off against a 44 magnum lol..

I beat you on word count lol See what you do when you get me started? I deeply appreciate your download and for allowing me to give you a little bit of extra depth to your new vegas playthrough. This is art for me and even though im no vincent van gogh, it makes me feel good to know you enjoyed it :)

glad that the big post wasn't a problem lmao

as for everything, i think you can keep everything tbh, just need some explanation as that's probably what i thought it lacked a bit. i didn't catch that interpretation of the pronunciations and what it meant, as i always saw the descrepancy in legioanries on how they pronounce stuff (legionaries with some VAs, like Dead Sea an Karl saying see-zur or sen-turion) as pure technical error and it wasn't intended. never ever i thought this could be something as the person isn't really that devoted to Caesar, or just doesn't understand latin enough and when being in a position where he wouldn't have any sort of punishment (Dead Sea being the Deacnus of his Contubernia, Karl being at Red Rock Canyon), they would reveal these small hints. it's a stretch, of course but it's cool to give stuff reason lmao

i personally don't have that much qualms with him being op, i personally am not that found of melee weapons companions as they just tend to not be very useful. still try so much to use lily but without mods to buff super mutants she kinda falls off, same for veronica but...less. and i think it would make sense given his background, the white legs have a big reverence for guns given Ulysses thaught them that Caesar vallued those that were good with them. Lies, of course, but it made them be more efficient with the high caliber weaponry they had atm

as for him knowing Ulysses, i think honestly it would be just awesome. He wouldn't know him by that name, as he was still part of the Legion when he approached them, and ngl, it would just be a genius conection. Have it that after you've visited Zion and dealed with them in any way (exterminated the white legs, spared some, just made the sorrows left and etc) you could have some unique dialogue with Titus after that, as you would see that he has the same facepaints that the white legs had, and he could mention that ''Flag Bearer'' that thaught them a lot of stuff and introduced them to the Legion. Also could explain his hairstyle and his views on the braids and what they symbolise to him, and after you've talked with Ulysses and heard his logs, you could explain to him that Ulysses actually Hated what the White Legs did with their hair as he was offended bcs they didn't know the meaning of what they were doing, they just did to honor him. not the legion, but him. There's some cool dialogue opportunities to have with Titus after you've visited Ulysses and Zion tbh, and i'm certainly biased on this as i always love more stuff related to Ulysses, but i really think it would be awesome and add to Titus as a character

as to the general. i just think you need a bit of explanation as to why he's here in the Mojave when Oliver's already here doing his job, what i personally thought was that he's not stationed here in the mojave, oficially. The deserters did desert at california and were able to capture a General that was stationed there and haul him here. Maybe seeing that the NCRs position in the Mojave is rather weak, as they don't use much of their better troops and equipment, and overhaul they are getting a bit fucked by the opposition. So it would be a good place to held this general for ransom. tho maybe you would had to make the deserters actually have better equipment as they certainly would be treated as terrorist of the worst kind, so they would certainly send the best of the best that they had at them. not the sorry asses that the Mojave get. Maybe you can change their base for this? as i think a cave or something like that would be better for them since they would need to hide and hide really well given the target level they had put on themselves. Otherwhise i honestly wish you could start this quest for the NCR too, as a mission to rescue the General

Also i still find the Centurion in Freeside a bit odd, as he's in a VERY close position to House and the NCR, and any sign of legion activity there would make both House and the NCR go check it out given how close to the Strip it is, maybe have their hideout be in a different place? Also i think you should change the Centurion to a Frumentarius, as idk if makes much sense to have a Centurion comanding a bunch of still-learning Frumentarii, either that or have a Frumentarius alongside him that is the one teaching these fresh frumentarii how to be good spies

overall, no need to preassure yourself! if time is short then np, do what you can atm and i think no one is going to mind. but it's good you will touch in this mod again as i've really liked your ideas, might inspire me to actually put some of my companion ideas to use someday lmao

also thanks for Titus mask being playable, been wanting to be able to use the damwar facemask for a long while but no one has made a mod that distribute it and makes it playable. it looks so nice

Nice to see a Legion companion. Good enough backstory and characterization, though there are a lot of typos. Are these lines ai-voiced, btw?
(edit: I mean, if it isn't ai-voiced, I think it was pretty good! Just a bit flat, is all.)

I'm already idolized by the Legion. However when talking to him inside the Cottonwood Cove main building he just says "Your work for Scribonius hasn't gone unnoticed. The Legion's strength grows". I guess there's something in the subjugation mod that overrides his dialog.

minor complaint with the quest, you can finish this quest relatively early in the game, but the loot found on corpses and around the base adds up to thousands of caps. biggest issue would probably be the condition of gear the NCR deserters have combined with the fact that you can find some pretty late game items like LMGs and mini nukes

out of curiosity I did the math

at level 8 in exchange for 3 stimpacks and 50 rounds of 5.56 (hard mode), I walked away with 19126 caps worth of guns, armour, and ammo (including an anti material rifle and LMG)

edit: deserter boss only showed up after i came back to sell the remaining loot, add ~800 caps to the pile

I balanced this mod around a harsh economy mod i use, so i kinda didnt even think about people who use a broken messed up vanilla economy aimed at 12 year olds :(

With that being said, i never added LMGs or anything like that to any of the NPCs leveled lists so it's likely other mods you use that add loot to leveled lists. Deserters all have stock 69% condition Service rifles, bosses have 44 magnums, and i never added stimpacks or caps or grenades or anything like that to any NPCs loot pools.

Try some economy mods and make sure you arent using mods that alter NPC loot. I did the entire DLC and sold everything to test this and never got any late game weapons/loot and walked away with 3,000 caps roughly

Thanks for using my mod btw, you're beautiful. :)

Uhhhh idk really. I vaguely remember having an internal conflict with him either being essential or a really high HP. In playtesting i had a few issues with him dying way too quickly from various mods people may or may not use. I wanted to be sure that he could handle any and all situations with minimal issues. You can always set his Essential Marker to 0 :)
