Lootable Statics

Description

This mod allows you to loot the following kinds of statics, by having them be containers:

  • Mostly intact car husks;
  • Trucks;
  • Golf carts;
  • Vents;
  • Hollowed out trees/logs;
  • Statics that look like containers (lockers, desks, et cetera).

This will work for all of your mods. Yes, all of them that use these statics.

I've had some very sensible advice in the comments—which is absolutely correct—that I should update this description to clarify a couple of things.

  • This mod does add relevant loot to all of the converted containers;
  • The loot is the same sort of levelled loot you're used to, with a chance you'll find nothing;
  • Due to these being non-respawning containers, this works out of the box with mods like Famine (which is very nifty);
  • If you want the containers to be respawning, you can get that via my Safehouses and Respawning Containers mod.

Installation

This is a little more complicated than your usual mod, but only a little, and it's so you can use this mod to create a patch for every mod you have so that all statics will be converted to containers. The process is slightly different for TTW users, so follow the instructions relevant to what you use.

FNV Instructions

  • Download FNVEdit and this mod;
  • Place the Lootable Statics.esm file in your Data folder;
  • Place the Lootable Statics - FNV.pas file in the Edit Scripts folder within FNVEdit's folder;
  • Place Lootable Statics.esm at 0A (11th place) in your load order, this will usually be below the DLCs and packs.

TTW Instructions

  • Download FNVEdit and this mod;
  • Place the Lootable Statics.esm file in your Data folder;
  • Place the Lootable Statics - TTW.pas file in the Edit Scripts folder within FNVEdit's folder;
  • Place Lootable Statics.esm at 11 (17th place) in your load order, this will usually be below the DLCs and packs.

First-Time Use

Once you're setup, using it is a doddle.

  • Open FNVEdit;
  • Make sure all of your mods are ticked in the list;
  • Press Ctrl + A to select all mods;
  • Right-click in the left pane and select Apply Script;
  • From the dropdown, find and select Lootable Statics - FNV.pas or Lootable Statics - TTW.pas respectively;
  • Hit OK;
  • Hit yes when it asks you to create a new file, name it Lootalbe Statics Patch.esp;
  • Hit yes when it asks you about adding masters;
  • It'll take a while, I've designed the script so it'll tick over when running so you know it hasn't hung;
  • Done, enable your new patch and enjoy some lootable statics!

The Lootable Statics Patch.esp will contain records converting all of the relevant statics to containers.

Reuse

  • Ensure that your Lootable Statics Patch.esp is at the bottom of your load order;
  • Ctrl-click the mods you want to add to your patch;
  • Right-click and select Apply Patch, choosing Lootable Statics - FNV.pas or Lootable Statics - TTW.pas as before;
  • When it asks you if you want to create a new file, hit no;
  • If it asks you about new masters, hit yes;
  • And then just wait for it to finish to get your updated patch!

Scripted

As this mod uses a Pascal xEdit script, no vanilla records were fiddled with in its creation.

Credits

I got the idea and implementation execution notions for this from the following mods.

Root 'n Loot FNV
Loot All Vehicles (Cars, Trucks, Golf Carts)
Hollow Tree Loot
Vent Hidden Stashes

I'd consider it a big favour to me if you'd go and endorse them, they deserve it. They did all the hard work.

If you don't want to faff around with scripts and you don't care about mod added statics, you can use those mods instead! I made this purely because the inconsistencies played on my neurodivergence.
