-OVERVIEW-

This mod is a simple replacement for the vanilla 9mm Pistol reload animation (1hpReloadL). The new animation is almost identical to the vanilla animation with one key difference.

Most weapon meshes in FNV actually have a modeled cartridge hiding within the weapon mesh (as opposed to FO3 which occasionally textures a cartridge directly onto the weapon texture file). The object is usually there just to add an extra bit of visual flair to the weapon's animations, such as being able to catch a glimpse of them in the 9mm Pistol jam animation, or seeing a shotgun shell being loaded during the Riot Shotgun attack animation.

Something most people don't normally notice (but I do because I'm a wacko) is that, while reloading many of the weapons, the magazine will appear empty. This makes some sense because the reload is normally always a "dry" reload, meaning the animation includes a motion of chambering the next round, such as pulling on the slide of the 10mm Pistol.

However, the issue occurs when the "new" mag is loaded into the weapon. The magazine still appears empty. Obviously it makes no sense for an empty mag to be loaded into a gun and still have its ammo replenished.

So I came up with a solution.

---

In short, what this mod does is adjusts the reload animation used by the 9mm Pistol (as well as the 12.7mm Pistol, the .45 Auto Pistol from Honest Hearts, and optionally the Silenced .22 Pistol) to have the modeled cartridges follow the exact same movement as the magazine. However, it also has the scaling for the cartridges set to 0 for the first half of the animation in order to make it appear as if the magazine is empty.

The cartridge object then has its scaling set instantly to 1 at just the right time to give the impression that the character is actually loading a fresh magazine with actual rounds in it.

This mod adjusts the 1st person, 3rd person, and sneaking 3rd person reload animations. This means that, while it might be a bit difficult to notice unless you're really looking for it, the character will load a properly filled mag even in 3rd person view.

On top of this, the mod also includes "_partial" reload animations intended to work with the lStewieAl's Tweaks option. As mentioned, normally the reload animation will always be a "dry" reload, meaning the weapon will behave as if you always fired the last shot.

The "_partial" animation files will allow the character to perform "tactical" reloads, wherein the character will only replace the magazine with a fresh one without chambering a new round. To reflect this, the magazine in these animations will always have the cartridges visible in the magazine.

In case you aren't using Stewie's Tweaks (but honestly, why wouldn't you be?) there's no need to worry. The "_partial" reload animations have been changed to be in their own optional download. Having both files loaded without the appropriate lStewie'sAI's Tweaks option enabled will cause the game to randomly choose between the two animations, so only use the "_partial" animations if you have the setting enabled.

-COMPATIBILITY-

This mod will conflict with any other mod that directly replaces the "1hpReloadL.kf" animations. kNVSE animations will also always take priority over the vanilla animations for weapons utilizing them, so if you have kNVSE animations for any of the aforementioned weapons, they won't use the animations from this mod.

This mod also includes an optional file for an adjusted "Silenced .22 Pistol" mesh. Normally, the cartridge object in the .22 mesh isn't set up the same way as with the other pistols. This means that the cartridges for the .22 are normally always visible, so changes had to be made to the mesh in order for this mod to properly affect the .22 Pistol as well.

The new .22 mesh includes an improved collision box, as well as an "ISControl" block. This means the new mesh will be compatible with hitman47101's Iron Sights Recoil Animations mod. Just be sure to have the "silenced22.nif" mesh from this mod overwrite the mesh from any other mod, and everything should work just fine.

However, because the optional file replaces the .22 Pistol mesh, mods like Millenia's .22 Silenced Re-Retexture will NOT be compatible.
(I don't really support making UV map changes to weapon meshes unless it's an objective improvement or fix. It renders many other mods incompatible, so I have no intentions of making a compatible mesh for it.)

-INSTALLATION-

Thankfully pretty simple. For manual installation, just unpack the files and place them in the correct file path location. Everything is already placed in its own correct location within the zip folder, so it should be as simple as just placing the extracted "Meshes" folder into the "Data" folder.

If you prefer to use a mod manager, just have it install the mod and everything should be placed right where it needs to be. I'd double-check the Data folder myself just to make sure everything made it to its correct destination though.
