Genuinely one of my favorite mods ive downloaded on this site period. i don't really comment much but i just wanted to show appreciation to how good this mod is and how good youve been with constructive criticism
Mildly humorous bug, whenever you come down from Buffout you suffer the same visuals of being staggered as if the side effects are physically painful. I think this is because of losing your max HP provided by the buffout effect.
Yeah I knew of this bug, just never fixed it. ;_; But I don't think it's a big deal because it's almost immersive, isn't it? I mean, you might experience some pain on the come-down of buffout wouldn't you? Some day I'm going to make a newer version of this brutal staggering mod which allows you to SHOOT while staggering and even have some limited movement while being staggered.
Those additions sound like they'll make it even better. I've noticed that some animations from other mods can also softlock my character if I'm not careful during combat, so they might also help with that.
Also, I agree that the buffout thing is both such an edge case and honestly somewhat incidentally immersive. I just thought I'd mention it just in case.
Is there a way to fix this? Cause the staggering is fine but sometimes my character gets absolutely launched into the air and die from the impact back down, and even then the camera is kinda wack when you get knocked down. Is there a way to modify it so you dont go flying, or even just a way to make it so you dont get knocked down, just regular staggered?
If I didn't add that chance of being knocked back, staggering in 1st person would be vastly, vastly better than staggering in 3rd person. Because in 1st person you can still move while being staggered, but in 3rd person you are stuck in one place and often staggering for longer. That's just my reasoning. If there is big enough demand for it I might add a version with a less chance of knockback.
In the vanilla game when you are hit by a explosion the camera starts to shake, can you make a mod that when you hit by a bullet your camera shakes like a "lite" version of this mod?
Yes, i get it. I'm saying there was another stagger mod which i cannot find.
On other note, would be cool to have a smart system that takes individual armors and weapons into account, in a similar way the "poise" system works in dark souls. That way, someone in power armor will be an unstoppable tank compared to someone in leather armor. But if you think about it, it probably wont change much, in terms of gameplay.
sweet, great idea - thanks! I'll endorse when it lets me, but you get a kudos :) You have a lot of great ideas for mods - I'm right in the middle of a complete FONV re-install, but I"m gonna grab a few when I got the basics back on.
Second question - does the staggering affect NPC's? It looks like someone tried to do it unsuccessfully before with Immersive hit reactions.
This mod only affects the player. The closest you can get to staggering NPC's constantly is the mod you mentioned: Immersive Hit Reactions. However, you could also check out Awesome Crippling Effects, which doesn't stagger enemies but makes them do other cool things when their limbs are crippled.
I like the basic concept but I think it could be improved for scalability by making the check a percentage of the actor's total health instead of a flat 30 points. That way it works as intended with any damage formula or difficulty and the stagger effect is about the percentage of total health lost in an attack.
And to echo what's said below, a check to see if the attack penetrates Damage Threshold at all before taking effect would make sense.

I used Immersive Hit Reactions for a while.
