The Survivalist's Rifle is chambered for 12.7mm and it was used at checkpoints to stop cars. That is the real-world application for .50 Beowulf - immense stopping power at short to medium range. The Pip-Boy icon also clearly shows it to be a rifle cartridge.
The Survivalist's Rifle is also from a DLC that came after the game's release in which the 12.7mm Pistol and SMG both seem to be firing a chunky pistol round, and (to me at least) is just the same situation as the Lincoln Repeater from Fallout 3 where instead of using the correct cartridge they just used what was closest in-game (it helps though that 50AE is the parent case for 50 Beowulf so it's easy to mix them together for a videogame)
There's also the fact that Joshua Sawyer confirmed a while back it's meant to basically be 50AE with a different name so players didn't get it mixed up with 50MG (I'm assuming the pipboy icon was an oversight considering it doesn't match the ammo you see being loaded into or ejected from the 12.7mm guns)
To clarify though I'm not trying to seriously argue this since New Vegas keeps its guns vague enough for headcanons of all sorts to be reasonable, since I know my own gun nerd headcanons would probably get disagreed with by other people a lot lol. Just, personally, I feel 50AE makes sense (going by the stuff I mentioned) with the Survivalist Rifle being a mild suspension of disbelief, but if you do think it's 50 Beowulf then more power to ya dude (also this a good gun mod too) :)
Fair point, although I also feel as though rifle cartridges have more potential applications and are more interesting mod-wise. It allows me to make mods such as this, for instance. Otherwise, it would be stupid to make a gun like this in .50 AE when .45-70 exists and would be much more powerful.
Yeah true, if this had stats closer to a 50AE, this wouldn't stand out too much
Speaking of cartridges though, you ever thought of creating more guns with new conventional ammo types? Since I really liked your 410 revolver+rifle/shotgun combo
The problem with that is that I don't want my mods to be dependent on third-party resources, so I don't want to rely on community resources like CaliberX.
Creating my own new ammo types if they already exist in a community resource is considered bad modding etiquette because it could cause confusion when you have guns from different mods that both use, for example, .50AE but one uses the .50AE added by my mod and the other takes the .50 AE added by the community library. It breaks immersion because realistically, both guns should be able to load both types of ammo.
CaliberX has already claimed a lot of the more commonly-used calibers such as 7.62x39, .50AE, etc. so I can't use them. I was lucky that .410 and 20mm were not already part of the library.
Oh I forgot CaliberX existed lol I don't really use any weapon mods aside from your stuff since most other mods clash too hard with vanilla assets
But yeah looking into it CaliberX does "claim" a lot of more common ones, but even then there's still lots of cartridges out there that it doesn't cover, plus lots of wacky experimental rounds that could be applied to the Fallout world (like Trounds or Flechettes)
Dude, you crank these things out like it's your job, and they all rule. Please, PUHLEEZE do a video sometime- not even a real tutorial is necessary, but just how you go through the process, start to finish.
Another amazing looking revolver. I think I might just bite the bullet on this one and install. I really like it. If I like it enough, I might even download your whole weapon pack ?

Have you ever thought about doing an ociw?

Guess I need to go find that.
