Considering the issues this cool device has with custom race mods from what I have found, might you ponder making a variant that creates a holographic green glowing one to draw fire? Or perhaps a Nightkin? After all if a mutant appears out of nowhere most wastelanders might assume that is what happened. It could even have a different effect like causing mobs to flee rather then aggro on it.
Im no modder so just tossing out some random ideas. Anyways love the basic premise and using it as it is still cool if not always a great double of every character.

Again, wonderful work ! Just some questions, is it intended to work with vanilla parameters only ? I use a female char, body, eyes and hair from mods, and when using the decoy it spawns a male one
I tested and found out that: 1. It properly copies any race that used by Player... Tried Shoujo Race and Mannequen Race; 2. Hologram uses the Preset that was used during creation (for me it created the same Preset that was chosen with showracemenu) and ignored all adjustments; 3. Hologram appears in Vault suit; 4. Hologram appears with 10mm Pistol.
Okay, that tracks. I used the first Caucasian Male preset for the hologram, which will have MatchRace, MatchFaceGeometry, and SexChange (if the player is female) called on it when it is spawned. It is equipped with a Vault Suit and 10mm Pistol, as there's no way in the vanilla GECK to instantly determine what the player is wearing or holding. To do so would need to add several hundred lines of scripting, checking every single item in the game to see if that's the one the player is wearing/holding.
All right, as I've been extensively customizing my char, plus the plugin I use to match any hair with any race, it's probably coming from me. Still excellent tho
would be nice if there was a visual indicator/smoke/exploding? effect to signal that the doppelganger timer runs out. The x seconds notification on the pip boy is nice but you might not have time to internally count down when facing down multiple enemies.
If you're still within visual range of the decoy when time runs out, you're doing it wrong! Haha
But seriously, the way I imagine it working is that the grenade runs out of power so there's not enough left to do anything special and the hologram just vanishes. Your visual cue that the timer has run out is when it says 0 seconds, and even that is a gameplay concession. It doesn't make any tactical sense to a) let your enemy know that they're facing a decoy, and b) to let them know exactly how much time that decoy has left.
Is it possible? I mean by judging Bethesda ancient Sneak system in their game which is a bit flaw and clunky for the most part when compared to any other sneak based video games out there Deus Ex; Gothic; Thief; Dishonored etc

I don't use big guns personally, so unlikely. I don't like the big guns animations. The fact that the majority of them have a big handle sticking out the side is a dealbreaker for me. They should've made it with the two hands held in line with one another. This animation set really limits what you can do because you always have to keep in mind that you need to add the giant ugly handle sticking out the side.
I can't believe your creativity when it comes to those gimmick weapons! That's awesome and totally reminds me of the decoy balloons you can deploy in MGS 5. Did you ever think of making a smoke grenade of some sort? It could release a cloud similar to dead money one, but instead of doing damage it'd make you undetected
That's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how you'd script it. So far, I haven't found any GECK function that governs your detected state. I can check to see if you've been detected or not, but no way to tell the game to stop detecting you.
oh that sucks. I guess you could add 100 sneak skill to player while inside the cloud, but that wouldn't do anything for players already having enough skill. Stealth field would work the best technically but then whats the point using that in place of stealthboy. Hmm.
There's only so much you can do with conventional, damage-dealing weaponry. Now, I'm just experimenting, trying to push the limits of what I can do with scripting.
