The mod with uncapped chance works for me. I removed the game setting in FNVEdit that set max chance to hundred and it still seems to work

IStewieAI has an option for this in his mod IStewieAI's Tweaks and Engine Fixes :bShowPickpocketSuccessRate = 1 , which is by default 0

Neither this mod nor that currently works.

Doesn't seem to work. Success rate doesn't appear at all. I even tried from a new game with no mods active except JIP-LN and UIO. StewieA's show success option doesn't work either, so I presume something that happened in JIP-LN during it's latest update is responsible.

Ok, how does it work? I mean a success rate of 50% doesn't really tell you much, since it's % still, means out of 2 tries, one would be successful, the other wouldn't, right? In theory though, as there could be a random number of successes and another random of failures, let's say you save before attempting to pickpocket someone and after each try (successful or not) you reload your save. It wouldn't be a clear fifty-fifty ratio, it would be completely random. If it reads 90%, you really have a high chance of success, yet still 10% of failure, so even then it could fail. It still could result in more instances of success, but even so still able to fail. Only 100% would be a sure success. So what's the point anyway? You either pickpocket the item, or you don't, what's the fuss with percentual success rates?

BTW this is not a rant, nor any attempt on hurting the author, I just don't get the percent stuff, call me stupid or whatever, but as I see it, percent wont tell you much, unless it's a really high, or a really low number, but in those cases you still have a slight chance of the opposite outcome anyway.

Yes, with a small sample size you'll have instances of, for example, failing to pickpocket twice or more times in a row even though you had a 50% chance. However, if you were to take a larger sample size e.g. attempting to pickpocket about 100, 1,000, etc. times, you'd see the trend average out to about what it's supposed to be -- about 50/50. I think it's just easier to give a percentage so the player can have a rough number in their head about how many attempts it would probably take to succeed.

In short, don't overthink it. It's a good thing to have for convenience, even if it isn't perfectly exact. It makes the pickpocketing mechanic a lot less vague and mysterious.

These numbers do not seem right at all.
Leaving Doc Mitchell's house and immediately going to pickpocket the Goodsprings Settler with a Super Stimpak. He's near the 3 Bighorners to the right.
    Displayed Success Rate: 36.4%
    Actual Success Rate: 5%
Calculated using the formula found at https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Sneak_(skill) My sneak was 10, his sneak is 16.
Definitely took more (a lot more) than an average of 3 tries to get away with it.

    Is it just me?
Also: "Items without weight or value, such as spent ammunition casings (e.g. Case 9mm, Drained microfusion cell, etc.) can be pickpocketed without a chance of failure or karma loss" Yet they don't display as 100%?

The .nvse part of my save files is filling up with thousands of lines that have a percentage and the words Success Rate in them. Is that intended and normal? Or is something wrong? Every few saves is like this before returning to a normal sized .nvse file.

That was a result of certain NVSE functions crashing my GECK on my old Win7 box. I was almost certain I had already uploaded the fixed version that I've been using for a while now, but whatever. It's up now for sure.

So I'm trying to pickpocket Plik a ghoul NPC from TTW at point lookout and I use a stealth boy and it shows
100% success rate but he keeps catching me, I've tried over 10 times and I get the same result no matter what...
