Not only is this mod unbalanced (doesn't lower the carry weight of companions themselves) but uninstalling it DOESN'T UNDO THE EFFECTS! WTF!!!!!!

I'm getting an issue while moving around and carrying more than I normally could without companions. About once every second, my character slows down by a lot (if I had to guess, overencumberance speed) for a fraction of a second, and then resumes normal speed -- until another second has passed and they slow down again. It's really frustrating, makes you stutter-y and a heck of a lot slower. I'm guessing some script that's firing once every second to make sure I shouldn't be overencumbered isn't quite working right, but that stuff's generally above my paygrade.
I'm almost positive it didn't start happening until many hours after having installed the mod. I can make it stop by going under my normal weight limit, but it resumes once I'm carrying enough stuff to need companion help. As of yet I haven't figured out what made it start or a workaround to break the cycle and get things back to normal. Ideas?

EDIT: No luck on actually reproducing the issue yet, but if anyone else finds they are experiencing it, I managed to get it to stop by dismissing all companions and rehiring them.

Yeah I ran into this issue after an unrelated crash (ironically) but fast-traveling seemed to have absolved the issue. It was either that or when I dismissed my companions, though I can't remember which came first now.

I started to see this too. The stutter vanished when I removed either this mod or JIP Companions Command and Control from my load order (reinstalling even on a clean save brought it back), or found and fired every one of my companions (including those waiting all over the Mojave, which is tedious enough in a later game, and then why shouldn't it happen again?) then hired them back again. The CCI patch at Various Mod Patches didn't seem to help here.

Telling companions to wait, makes the player overencumbered.
I see this is a feature of the mod, but I find it very annoying.

If anyone thinks the same, they can easily change this in the companionwgtFnIsFollowerValid script.
In the waiting routine, change Let bAllGood := 0 to Let bAllGood := 1

Also, opening and closing the pip-boy to get rid of the overencumberment message on fast travel does not always work.

Yeah, I haven't found a full solution but usually entering a new cell or reloading the save works to get around that for me.

Opening and closing a companions inventory works most of the time.

Using JIP Companions Command and Control's "Guard" feature also loses a companion's carrying capacity, even if he/she/it stays nearby. I often want to use this feature tactically, but also tend to leave a string of companions waiting far behind me all over the Mojave.

I wonder if it would be possible to manually assign, with this mod, which companions are to share the Party's burden until told otherwise?

An alternative would be, without this mod, to add/subtract their capacity to/from one's own with "player.modav carryweight X" in the console as companions "truly" join/leave.

I'm curious, under what circumstances do you think this would be necessary to have? If you need to set a companion to wait for a bit without getting overencumbered, why not give them some of your stuff manually like in vanilla?

The reason I added the Waiting check is because it would be very exploitable when you have multiple companions that can be set to wait indefinitely. If it's merely to save yourself some more hassle, I think you might as well cheat with setav carryweight :)

It's purely personal preference. I use this mod to save myself the hassle of having to manage companion inventories, and the waiting check is an annoyance to me. And logically, if they can carry my stuff while walking they should be able to carry it while waiting as well.

Of course there's all kinds of roads that lead to Rome. One could do this with setav carryweight too (but modav might be safer), or setav inventoryweight 0 (which is also permanent) , but that's regardless if you have companions or not.

Breaking the the waiting check is exploitable but it's not as bad as the console cheats, there's still sort of a limit. It works for me, I'm not tempted to use the console cheats with this mod installed.

Ok gotcha, and sure it's your prerogative to adjust it to your preferences. Just wanted to make sure I didn't overlook something in this regard.

What about checking if the waiting companion is in the same cell as the player character? If so, can always be passing stuff back and forth; if not, can't.

I'm super late but one case I would want this is in the thorn when doing a battle, since that automatically sets each companion to wait.

There's an annoying bug where if you pick a spot to fast travel to and then cancel, you have to lower and raise the pipboy again in order to fast travel or else it says you're over encumbered.
It's not enough to get me to not use this but it is annoying all the same.

I know I'm very late to the party, but still thanks so much for this mod! :) Having to take everything from my companion to see what I can craft and then putting it back is my biggest pet peeve with the game, so much 'wasted' time and annoyances. I started looking for a mod that allows you to access companion inventories while crafting like how in fallout 4 the inventory of all storages are shared across a settlement when crafting. No luck but then I found this mod, which basically circumvents the problem in a different but similarly useful way! Just ?

For some reason when I use this mod, ED-E (my only companion so far) has his weight reduced from 210 to 135.

It seems to be related to JIP LN NVSE. Disabling that temporarily gives back the 210. Unfortunately if I enable just it, without Convenient Companion Inventory, it goes back to 135. So the weight is now permanently affected if I enable JIP LN NVSE. It was fine before I installed CCI. Strange one.

modav carryweight 75 on ED-E has fixed it for now. Hopefully that doesn't have any side-effects?

It's probably related to a bugfix/balance mod you have installed that touches the Companion Suite perk, since that could lower the companion's carry weight by 75 (210-75=135). Do you have Unofficial Patch Plus installed by any chance? If so, you could try uninstalling it to see if it makes a difference.

As far as patches go, I have YUP, NVAC, OneTweak, and NVTF installed.

The rest are QOL mods: Mod Configuration Menu, Loot Menu, Vanilla UI Plus, JIP MiniMap, Complete Respec, Better Saves, Simple DLC Delay, and UIO.

Btw, I found this in the JIP LN NVSE Forum https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/58277/?tab=forum&topic_id=7767068&BH=0
