Flat out, It's a good mod, and I use it, but I rarely like it. Don't get me wrong, great mod and everything, just that the fact that there's no custom animations nor models for the mods kills me. No doubt this is good s#*!, I just cannot get over the animations and lack of good modeling. That being said, hats off to you mod creator. this is still the best Schnellfeuer mod I've found for FNV.
The C96, and it's derivatives, easily rate as my absolute favorite gun ever. I love that you included the attachable shoulder stock, but I have to ask. Is the extended magazine required, or is it an add-on mod? I adore the profile of the gun, and the extended mag you see so often always ruins it for me...
Technically you could still use the Chinese Pistol reload animation for the stock version with the 10 round magazine. I think it would look better than the strange reloading animation that the file uses.
No, because the modded version of the weapon shares animations with the base version. Trust me, okay? I know what I'm doing. To use different animations, I would have to make two different weapons with different Form IDs.
Ohhh you mean because of the extended magazine. It's too bad the game doesn't allow for repeating the animation twice. I think what they used to do with the large magazine Mauser carbines was load two ten-round clips.
I didn't physically add any of the mods to the Wasteland, I only added them to vendors' leveled lists, so it all depends on your level and the random number generator. However, you could always use console commands if you're desperate...

Yes, YES! The Schnellfeuer! Now for me to get all 100 Guns skill up in here. 10 ranks in Gun Nut. 100 Repair skill. Jury Rigging. Etc.
The FO3 Chinese pistol itself is based not on the Mauser C96 or M712 Schnellfeuer, but rather the Shanxi Type 17 pistol. The Type 17 was chambered for .45 ACP rounds, and as such was much bulkier. The C96 and Type 17 have almost no interchangeable parts. The most notable difference was that the internal box magazine extended to the bottom of the trigger guard in C96 pistols, while Type 17 pistols had mags extend below the trigger guard (as seen with the Chinese Pistol) to compensate for the larger bullets. Curiously, the ammo loaded into the Chinese Pistol in FO3 resembles the 7.63x25mm Mauser round normally loaded into a C96 (9mm was exclusive to Red 9 variants, named for the red number "9" emblazoned on the grip to ensure users loaded the right ammo). Furthermore, that ammo is held on a single strip clip of 10 rounds, normal for a C96, whereas the Type 17 had to be fed two individual strips of 5 .45 Auto rounds each. Most Type 17 pistols were destroyed following Communist victory the installment of a Communist regime in China, because the Type 17 was .45 caliber, which did not match the calibers of the Commie weapons. Logistics, and all that.
Finally, the M712 Schnellfeuer was not utterly useless on full auto without the stock. It's a room-clearing tactic. Ever wondered why gangsters hold guns sideways? Probably because they think they're cool, but that tactic has a basis in the M712. The idea was that, if you held the M712 sideways and fired on full auto, you would spray an arc of bullets across the width of the room because the recoil would send your aim sideways as opposed to upwards.
Regardless, I am tickled to see this beautiful weapon work its way into the world of New Vegas. Bravo!
I'm glad you like the weapon, and thanks for taking the time to comment! As far as the "room broom" sideways sweep technique, Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons says it's an urban legend and was unlikely ever used that way, even though it does work. (Source: https://www.forgottenweapons.com/mauser-schnellfeuer-or-model-712-machine-pistol/)
That Forgotten Weapons video is exactly where I learned that room sweep method. Small world. I guess the internet is making it smaller. Missed the bit where Ian said it was an urban legend, though. It's been a while since I watched it.
