Q: What are the requirements? A: The base of the mod requires an UI that handles scaling, like VUI+. Download the latest version if there is any issues. For the plugin you need Johnny Guitar NVSE and JIP LN NVSE Plugin.
Q: What does the plugin do? A: It adds icons to things that do not have an icon. It adds variety to things that share an icon with something else. It also adds support for icon variety when reaching a new rank with a perk. The biggest feature is that it is compatible with everything, and is easily customizable by deleting lines in a .ini file or the .ini file itself.
Q: I have issues!!! A: Let this mod overwrite everything, including Vanilla Hud Remastered.
Q: Does this work with FO3? A: Yes
Q: I AM HAVING ISSUES!!!!!! A: Have these installed, or have the latest versions of these?
NOTE! As of Ver 4.2 For Alternative Icons, I recommend using: Alternative perk_chemist (Just because it is more interesting) Alternative perk_kamikaze (Vanilla CPI variant needs more work) Alternative perk_stealth_girl (Vanilla CPI variant needs more work) Alternative perk_stonewall (Vanilla CPI variant needs more work)
Use these if you like: Alternative apparel icons Alternative missing image Alternative perk_enhanced_sensors Alternative perk_trigger discipline Alternative Wired Reflexes Alternative perk_little leaguer
I do not recommend using the rest, because Vanilla CPI has superior quality.
V4 is AIO, and is very polished for what it is, and honestly, in a rush - all that you need.
My V5 mods is a different kind of execution, style and effort, and will likely never be AIO. If you think installing various mods is annoying, imagine making it. 😅
I have multiple reasons for this, some i can't do anything about. That is just the way it is. Some think it is due to DP, but it is really not, especially considering the new changes to the system that will essentially affect me (most likely) negatively due to this.
Hello, I have an issue with the icons being very pixelated in places like JAM weapon hweel, aid quick menu, and quick select. (Yes I use them all haha)
It looks like the image below. Anyway I can fix this? Is this load order related? (In the pip-boy it looks good!)
My load order regarding UI is basically this:
JAM Clean JAM QuickSelect AidQuickMenu (and Icon Size support fix) High Resolution Screen High Res local maps Consistent pip-boy icons v4 Consistent pip-boy icons v5 [All of 'em] Vanilla UI+
I recommend trying to install my other mod Hotkey Weapon Icons, which I made for this kind of Interface. This issue is due to the XML not handling HD textures very well.
my UI load order - no issues at all with JAM's weapon wheel or JesusChrist's Clean Companion Wheel. icons look super crisp.
- Vanilla UI+ - Clean Vanilla Hud - (Quick Select - A Zelda BOTW Style Quick Menu) - yUI - User Interface - ySI - Sorting Ycons - ySI - Colorful Icons Fix - Consistent Pip-Boy Icons v4 - Consistent Pip-Boy Icons v5 - Framework Plugin - Consistent Pip-Boy Icons v5 - (all of them) - Simple Maps - High Res Local Maps - High Resolution Screens - Vanilla Fonts Revisited - JAM - Just Assorted Mods - JAM - VNV Configuration - Clean Just Assorted Mods (JAM) - Clean Just Assorted Mods - Companion Wheel
---
i like Quick Select more than Aid Quick Menu, so I don't use Aid Quick Menu. Quick Select works great with JesusChrist's Pip-Boy icons, looks really good. if you really want to use Aid Quick Menu, it has issues with JAM. you have to turn off JAM - Bullet Time.
Honestly, you just need this one. It covers everything Vanilla, and all of the DLC's. I spent years on this, and it should show!
Since v4, my skills have improved by a lot. If you want improved fidelity, consistency and entierly new icons then I recommend my v5 stuff.
If you just want my "best hits", or a vanilla plus experience, then i recommend installing Vanilla Fonts Revisited, This mod, and Clean Vanilla Hud. Thats honeslty all you need from my modding catalog. Though, I'd like to think my other works have some value as well.
Let's say I want to use this mod as a base and just pick and choose some v5 stuff, everything just.. works? Some v5 stuff have the framework plugin as a requirement but I guess that isn't a problem? Btw I used these since before all the v5 stuff and just want to say how much these breath new life in to the game, thank you!
Hey LOC (not sure if I can call you that) you mention that CPI addons (the version on old files from February 4th) are not recommended anymore, why is that? I've scrolled through the description and a few comments here to see if you've already answered that question and found nothing, so hopefully I'm not being dumb here.
You can still use them if you want, and i will likely move it back to main downloads once v5 is done... Though it is not compatiable with my Addendumb, Expansion and Dynamicon mods. To answer your question, it's not recommended mostly because of visual inconsistencies, and the fact that there is more content in my newer and better alternative v5 mods (The ones mentioned above).
v4 is mostly just recommended as a base until v5 is done, or to people who don't want to bother to install my v5 mods.
Thanks for the quick reply. I ask because I remember some challenger perks like Laser Commander and Lord Death having icons on them in older versions of CPI, and it came to me it might've been the addon mods since I've installed everything - including all of v5 - yet they're still not there. Tough choice, but I guess I'll stick with the newer stuff, even though I miss the Vault Boy dancing to those lasers lol.
Oh yeah, that. I'm working on a replacement for that. It's one of my three main projects I'm currently working on: Perks, Challenge Icons, Dynamically Randomized Icons.
In the meantime, you could install Addon Icons like usual, and then delete every .ini file except Perks.ini. That way you get best of both worlds. Unless you do this, Addon Icons is not recommended, and obviously - when the replacement is out too.
Thanks for this mod! I appreciate it. One question though. I noticed someone here mentioning scaling issues with the icons (specifically they were too big when viewed on the pipboy), and I realized I was having this issue as well. You recommended that the user download and install Vanilla UI+ to fix the issue. I am using DarnUI with the UHD Textures mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/65263). Is Vanilla UI+ compatible with DarnUI or this mod? How would you recommend installing this mod with DarnUI installed? Any and all helpful answers are appreciated, thanks!
Hey! No, they are not compatiable. You have to use one of them. Personally, I recommend Vanilla UI+ over DarnUI. If you are going to use Darn, then make sure it is the latest one - found on MODDB.

Don't know how you're not sick of drawing vault boys by now, but damn I'm glad you aren't.
What are your plans for V5 in the future, compile it into an all-in-one like V4 ? Or keep this kind of fragmented format ?
I don't know what the future lies in store for V5 in general. Honestly, I'm uncertain if I will stick around long enough to finish what is left. :-/
