Prepare yourself for another pack of pointlessly premium pixels. After retexturing the chems and venoms of New Vegas, I looked for the next range of items with no Nexus love. I found that none of the major texture mods covered ammunition boxes, and the retextures that did exist tend to replace them with real life brands, which triggers my lore-TSD.

Introducing, PM’s HD Ammo Boxes; “Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!”


FEATURES

This mod retextures the boxes for:

  • .357 Magnum
  • .45-70 Gov’t
  • .50 MG
  • 12 Gauge Shotgun Shells
  • 20 Gauge Shotgun Shells
  • .45 Auto (including +P, Hollow Point, and Hand Loaded variants)
  • Nails

...and any derivatives of these rounds which use the same texture (Armor-piercing, Incendiary, etc.)

This mod will not conflict with any of the major texture mods here on the Nexus (Ojo, NMCs, MGs, Neglected Clutter), as they don't cover ammo boxes.



NOTES

All of the Photoshop documents have been provided in the file section so that you may tweak, edit and expand upon my designs ‘til your heart's fit to burst (Unfortunately some .psd's got lost due to stupidity, I've tried my best to recover them and make them editable). Feel free to use assets from this mod in your own endeavours, just be sure to credit and link to the page. Any images used in the creation of these textures were CC or made from scratch.

I'm aware that some of the normalmaps look a bit too shiny under some lighting conditions ingame. If someone more experienced with normals wanted to give it a whirl from the .psd's, I'd be happy to upload it as an optional file with credit. 


INSTALLATION

First, choose your combination of texture size and normal map size. For best visual to performance ratio, I would recommend 2K Diffuse with a side of 1K Normals, but you’re perfectly okay with 1K.

Then, heat the Mod Manager to 375°F. You should use a conventional FOMM, but a fan-forced NMM should work just fine. Open the Package Manager and place the .zip file inside. Activate until golden brown.
