Why haven't I seen this mod before? This is what is needed. I tried many mods that would remove fast travel, but they are all too gameplay oriented, add too much unnecessary take and waste of time. This one is simple and logical.
I already commented on this mod once to endorse it but I wanted to come back and mention another thing about its synergy with other mods that I really enjoy.
The way this mod restricts fast travel if you're suffering from any kind of chem withdrawal is probably the best thing about it, because once you're addicted to a chem (say, whiskey) then whiskey ceases to be "just" a chem that you take to boost your stats or avoid withdrawal penalties. Now if you want to fast travel, odds are that you'll need to down a whiskey right before you do so as to remove the withdrawal status, and because of that whiskey is elevated into a currency of sorts where you need to "spend" one whiskey each time you want to fast travel, so accumulating whiskey becomes a gameplay priority for an immersive and useful reason. For me, I use a smokeable cigarettes mod where cigarettes provide no stat buffs at all, so negating withdrawal and allowing fast travel are the only uses for cigarettes. It adds so much to the game to have a specific pseudo-currency like this for fast travel, and it makes me burn through cigarettes a lot faster because now I have to choose between spending my stash on negating withdrawal penalties or skipping across the map.
Anyway, great mod, I consider this one a must-have.
This is so great! It strikes the perfect balance between the meaningfulness of maintaining player health and the utility of fast travel. I highly recommend using it alongside the Speed-E Wheels Alternative Fast Travel System, which will still let you fast travel between kiosks in major locations if you don't want to hike halfway across the Mojave with two broken legs in search of a Doctor's Bag. They complement each other so well!
