Intro:


When I played through as an FOA heavy character I realized Emily Ortal is directly assigned to you as a field partner AND she is directly involved in the Benny/Yes Man story line. For these reasons, I felt like she should have been the FOA companion. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Arcade Gannon and like his companion setup in every way, but Emily just felt like she's SUPPOSED to be with you.

So here she is.

Installation Note:


If Vanilla Emily Ortal will not talk to you (you finished Moon Comes Over the Tower and talked to her a second time after bugging the tower) you will need to use console to enable Companion Emily. It is STRONGLY recommended that you install this mod BEFORE completing the Moon Comes Over The Tower. If you have fired Emily and cannot find her after updating try the alternate fire location (or console).

Detailed Description:



After you exit dialogue with vanilla Emily upon completing Moon Comes Over The Tower, she will disappear and companion Emily will be enabled inside the Old Mormon Fort. She will provide doctor services to you immediately. If she joins you she will provide you the "Field Work" perk granting +10 to Science, Medicine and Repair at a cost of -1 Luck. She will be available immediately after MCOTT but if at any point your FOA infamy rises over 25% she will NEVER rejoin you if fired.

She also has several unique dialogue trees, most of which contain "say once" options and challenges. Some of these reward perks or even unique items. See ReadMe for more details.

There is a "say once" romance tree with increasingly difficult speech challenges that is aware of your responses to Emily in her vanilla dialogue. See ReadMe for more details.

She has a repeatable (once per day) "Field Research" topic that currently has over 25 random responses many of which are based on your in game actions.

She is a member of the Followers Of The Apocalypse and Doctor factions so she provides full medical services "AT COST" (20 caps). This is independent of her companion functions and is only accessible through dialogue.

The Sink version (DO NOT USE BOTH) allows you to send her to the lab (ok, more of an organ closet) at The Sink. While she will (for now) probably teleport with you, there are dialogue options to send her to wait at the Drive in or Follow you into Big MT (must complete OWB main quests). On completion of the main OWB quest, you can obtain one of 3 new perks from Emily depending on your SPECIAL, she will also have a unique combat ready white Scientist Suit and unique LAER added to her inventory.


The Conflict Free Version moves Emily to the Safehouse and replaces her Fort dismiss with a "dismiss here" option. This should resolve any conflict with Freeside Open. There is no enable trigger and she is hireable by default so you can also use this version to bypass the MCOTT lockout if updating and clean installing. ALL VERSIONS SHOULD NOW BE FFR COMPATIBLE.


UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY THIS MOD BE DISTRIBUTED IN WHOLE OR IN PART VIA STEAM WORKSHOP OR ANY PAID DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL.

Bugs:



ALL current (>= 1.4) versions ARE compatible with Factions Reloaded.

MAIN AND SINK VERSIONS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OPEN FREESIDE or any mod that alters/removes the "FreesideOldMormonFort" wordspace.

Vanilla Emily is still there and she won't talk to me plus I can't find companion Emily at OMF.
If you installed this mod after completing MCOTT AND returning to vanilla Emily, you have already locked out the dialogues that trigger the "Emily swap". The only options are to reload an earlier save, use console to reset the MCOTT quest (might not fix the issue) or use console commands to enable companion Emily (will fix the issue). This MIGHT be fixed in a future version.

Killing the "real" Emily will not disable the companion version.
It SHOULD be impossible to kill the real Emily after the companion Emily is enabled, so this won't be an issue unless you REALLY want it to be.

She can't go to the Lucky 38.
This is by design as... she can't go into the Lucky 38, duh. She will go to the FOA safehouse if you try to send her to the Lucky 38 (she should unlock it for you WHILE SHE"S DISMISSED THERE).
Note: she CAN physically enter the 38 and will probably even follow you into the penthouse; there is no scripting to keep her out I just set her dismiss package not to go there for lore/immersion purposes. I will likely add her to the "force wait if player entering penthouse" setup eventually.

Update Notes:



I'm gonna make this simple and say just do a clean install on any upgrade unless noted specifically and then use console to re enable Emily if you need to. While you may no longer be able to talk to vanilla Emily, you will NOT loose any dialogue options as a result and may even gain new ones. You can also, probably, disable vanilla Emily via console if you want. If you don't want to deal with re doing the Moon Comes Over The Tower, use the conflict free version as Emily will be enabled and hireable by default (unless you REALLY want that dismiss to fort option).

New Features in the update:
- Fixed Factions Reloaded Incompatibility.
- Fixed dismiss to Fort option.
- Added "dismiss here" option see ReadMe for details.
- Lowered FOA rep requirement to 50 (infamy still 25).
- Tweaked her stats (mostly boosted them a bit but made her starting Luck 3)
- Made completion of her romance quest actually change her luck to 6.
