Old-Western Energy Weapons Mod for Fallout New Vegas.

(version 2.0) June 8th, 2011

by aediin

============
DESCRIPTION:
============

This is a new version of my previous mod, the "Old Western Energy Pistol".

The mod adds two new, unique, energy weapons to the game, called the "Magnum-Energy Pistol" and the
"Magnum-Energy Carbine".

Given the futuristic-western setting of Fallout New Vegas, I always thought it would be fitting to
have an old-western-looking "six shooter" energy weapon.

The pistol is inspired in the 19th century Remington Revolver, but it is actually an energy pistol
which (visibly) uses microfusion cells.

The carbine is basically the same pistol but with a long barrel and a rifle stock.

The gun is quite large and heavy, very sturdy, and shoots an accurate and powerful "Magnum-Energy"
beam that can set fire to a distant target.

The carbine shoots the same type of beam, but it is a little heavier and slower, has a longer range
and is easier to aim (less strenght & skill requirements).

The mod provides no in-game background story as to the origins of the weapons, the actual technology
behind them, or the reason for their current location (I leave that to the individual player's
imagination).

You can find buth guns buried in a grave in the Goodsprings cemetery, between the one you get buried
in and the one where you find the Goodsprings Snow Globe. (You'll need a shovel to dig the grave).

INSTALATION:
============

Like other mods, to manually install the Old-Western Energy Weapons, you must extract the contents of
the .rar file in the "fallout new vegas\Data\" folder (where you installed the game).

To play, check the corresponding box for "OldWesternEnergyWeapons.esp" from the "Data Files" menu in
the Fallout New Vegas launcher.

===============
IMPORTANT NOTE:
===============

I made the pistol for my own personal use in the game, and decided to upload it because I thought
someone else might enjoy it. The carbine version was made following a suggestion made to me during
the first release.

All aspects of these weapons, both aesthetic and functional, were made with nothing but my own
preferences in mind.

I gave the guns in-game stats that, to me, seem reasonable (reasonable within a game that features
advanced fictional technology, that is).

However, I am fully aware that different players will have very different tastes for their gaming
experiences, even within a single video game.

Therefore, If you like the weapon, but feel the stats aren't what you would have liked them to me,
(overpowered, underpowered... or in any other way not according to your own ideas of "fun", "useful",
"realistic", "game-balanced", etc.), rather than complain to me about it, please, feel free to open
the .esp file in the New Vegas G.E.C.K. Editor, find and open the entries "WeapEnergyRevolver" and
"WeapEnergyRevolverCarbine" in the weapons list, and edit any of the weapon's stats to suit your own
criteria. In the same way, feel free to rename the weapons to whatever you feel is best, like
"Ranger's Proton Blaster", "The Big Iron", or even "Betsy" if you like, and save any changes you
make for your own, personal use.

Finally, please note that the only purpose of this plugin is to add the weapons to the game and make
them available to the player. There are no quests to complete, or any other prerequisites for
obtaining these unique weapons (other than digging a grave with a shovel). If anyone would like to
make a mod where the guns can only be obtained after a certain search, quest and/or level, or as the
result of workbench crafting or even where they are included in the leveled items lists and weilded,
let's say, by elite NCR Rangers (or whatever), you have my permission to use this mod's resources as
long as you leave my original files intact (save your changes under a different name) and you give
me some credit for my work.

===========
KNOWN BUGS:
===========

I am using standard reload animations, which look good enough at normal speed, however, observed
carefully, there are a few graphic glitches. Still, it's nothing out of the ordinary and certainly
nothing that will affect gameplay.
