Works like a charm. But... On my way to Ellis Airforce Base I encountered a 'Field Shack' and entered. Upon exiting the glasses stopped working, all four of them.
I enjoyed this mod , you have my endorsement.I wish to ask if it is possible for the NV effect to be blue-ish instead of green like the effect of the drug cat-eye.Not asking for a new version or anything , just a bit of info on what to change in the GECK to make it on my own.
Firt off: I really love this mod. I prefer the manual glasses, but was put off by the confirmation dialog always appearing first. It's better to be able to assign a hotkey and switch it on and off easily. Also the blur effect is a little overdone for my visual tastes.
So the message has to go and the blur effect has to be reduced. How to remove/lower the blur effect has already been described, but I'll describe it here again to have it all togheter.
Since LostCosmonaut is stating in his Mod Description that you can freely mod his mod as long as you give him credit, I'm sure he doesn't mind that we remove it.
So let's get to work:
REMOVE THE CONFIRMATION DIALOG on the "LC" glasses
No worries, I'll walk noobies thoroughly through. It took a while for me to figure out the Geck so I'll save you some time. For those familiar with the Geck, skip right to the script. But if you are you maybe have figured that out already all alone
What's the Geck? The Geck is a powerful software toolbox which shows you kinda the "matriX" of the game. All the textures, mods, scripts, etc. that make the game work beneath the surface are presented in a manner, so that you can alter the framework.
You can change values, add stuff, remove stuff, etc.
All these changes are saved in an extra file (like the .esp-file we have at hand) which is then loaded into the game. The .esp file can be seen as an external settings file.
So basically what we gonna do is load up the settings file, change some values and save it. That's it.
For this we need to download the Geck. It's a free tool from the developers.
Download the latest GECK from Bethesda (as of 2011/04/20 that's V1.1),. make sure it's the version for New Vegas, not for Fallout 3 (which has a higher version number) unzip into the Fallout-Folder (NOT in the Data-Folder, where the mods go).
Start Geck.exe Win7/Vista-users make sure you start as Administrator When you start up, there's only a bland looking interface.
Click "File -> Data" DEselect all other itmes in the list, especially mods, then select only "Night Vision Sunglasses.esp" (douple-click it). (I assume you have this already in your Fallout/Data-folder. If not, put it there)
Click "Set Active File", then "OK". Now give it some time to load (see percentage in the bottom status bar, stating the progress).
Now scroll down in the leftmost "objects" window and select "*All"
Now ALL Items are listed in the right window (takes a little time...)
Now look for the script "AAASunglassesScriptLC". (for quicker access, click the list window and then the "A"-key on your keyboard) double-click to open
now delete its contents and insert the following (in between the ########### characters)
Short ControlVar ; Make it so it knows the effect has been activated
Begin OnEquip
; Begins script when you activate (use) equipment
player.addspell, AAASunglassesFXLC set ControlVar to 1 ; Adds effect spell and sets the ControlVar to know it's activated
End
Begin OnUnEquip
; Now we need it to cancel the effect once the equipment is removed if ( ControlVar == 1 ) set ControlVar to 0 player.removespell, AAASunglassesFXLC Endif
End
Begin GameMode
if ( ControlVar == 1 ) player.addspell, AAASunglassesFXLC endif
End
###########################################
Save the script ("Script -> Save"), close the script window.
OPTIONALLY: REDUCE/REMOVE BLUR EFFECT double-click "AAASunglassesISFX". To the right in the middle there's an option "FullScreen Motion Blur" with a "Strength" of 0.5000. if you want to switch it off, manually insert 0.0000 if you want to reduce it insert s.th. lower, e.g. 0.2000 That's some nice blurring, but not too much.
Click "Apply" and "OK".
Now in the Geck Menu click "File -> save" to save your modified "Night Vision Sunglasses.esp".
Copy the modified .esp to another folder to back it up for further reference.
Start up Fallout, equip your Sunglasses and there you go - gone is the confirmation dialog.
However, evertime you activate the glasses an info message appears (upper left corner) saying that the glasses have been added to your inventory, although they are of course already there. Can anyone say how to fix that also? I'd appreciate a solution for that.
If you assign a hotkey now you have Night Vision at the press of a button
Assign a hotkey as usual (XBOX360-Controller users like me - hold right shoulder button and select a slot with the D-Pad).
Enjoy
Thanks evilmink and LostCosmonaut for this great mod

I do have a bit of an issue tho: when equipped and turning I get this weird blur/lag effect its a bit disorienting
Has this happened for anyone else? If so please help a girl out
ty
The term would be equipped.Close. It almost sounds like a T is in there, but isn't.
(Idk if its the right tense or the sentence makes sense)
Regardless, thanks for this. Keep up the good work. =)
DLing now, will be back to endorse later.
Edit: Now we just need Bond's x-ray shades from Tomorrow Never Dies. =D
