I am currently playing with 2 PCs. 1 is a NE Druid of Umberlee and the second a NE Cleric of Talos. For companions, Kvas is a Rogue/Bard, Tan a Ranger/Rogue, and Carcarin is a straight wizard. Party is level 11ish with Tan as a tiefling and my cleric an Aasimar running slightly behind. I did not take Mutasin because I kept the Pasha alive and even though I did bribe Mutasin, he would not even talk about leaving. I just picked up the halfling necromancer to see if he has any side quests. Position 6 will always be a rotating position filled by NPCs with quests to do.
For the record, I was never able to forge the Crown (as the forge had been destroyed when I found the last part)
When I found the last crown part (Pros?), and entered the stronghold, Karsidin told me the Adventurers had destroyed the forge.
and thus finish Tan's sidequest (and transformation).
I looked it up in the toolset, and it seemed after the Crown was Forged, Tan would reveal his true identity - a demon of some kind. Then you'd be attacked by another, and have to prove your allegiance to Tan.
Maybe if I would have asked that Ogre to fetch me the last part...?
In the stronghold, there's an Ogre (from Muzad?) in the throne room who deals with your slaves. There's dialogue with him to fetch Crown parts (for 20 000 GP iirc), so I thought maybe if I stayed in the stronghold and let him get the last part, I wouldn't get that respective dialogue about the Adventurers.
Heh. Well this time I was just looking for something different, I haven't played that many warlocks.
Where did you get that text in the spoiler from, GFallen? I don't recall seeing anything like that, though it's been a while since I played the module till the end.
I have to check the new version too, I was actually thinking about a warlock PC as well... either that, or some frezerker type. Or a bard. Or a monk. Or an assassin... well, I don't know.
This was my final party, I met most other companions (except Carcarin who was bugged). As you see I eventually dismissed Kvas (was curious about Tan's storyline), regrettable as quite a bit of content seemed directed towards him.

I see v1.20 has fixed the stronghold (one of my favorite parts of the campaign), so I may start another playthrough. Probably this time with Kaedrin's, maybe a Warlock/Mystic Knight PC.
Funny, I went for the same members as your playtest group. They were the first members I picked up, and nobody seemed better or as interesting. I went with a blackguard for my character, running around with that great sword you get from killing that paladin in the group of adventurers. Awesome dialog options to insult those adventurers in that scene. I had Carcarin as an arcane scholar. Tan as a Ranger/Wizard/Eldritch knight, his robes just begged for that combo. Mutasin as a cleric/stormlord/warpriest which seemed really fitting especially since he had the storm domain. I made Kvas a rogue/assassin/invisible blade, which was easy due to that side quest with the dagger.
It would be really cool if you could pick up companions after dismissing them. This way you could drop a companion to do some side quests and get them back when done. Maybe they could be worked into the stronghold, so that they're working on something there instead of just waiting around for you. Sort of like assigning seargents in the OC. I was just so reluctant to dismiss Tan, Mutasin, Kvas or Carcarin I didn't wind up travelling with anybody else.
That's probably my favorite party overall. Kvas and Tan are must-haves for me, and I like Carcarin and Mu'Tasin.
I've played several times, but I think I've only completed it once (I was close to completion a couple more times, though).
In that playthrough I played a rogue/fighter, with mainly the same party you mentioned, but I used every companion at some point and did their personal quests. I don't remember the specifics, I think I made Mu'Tasin a sacred fist while Tan and Kvas were assassins or some similar class. Carcarin had some mage PrC. It was basically Kvas, Tan and me stabbing everything to death.
My first time (when I was testing) was with a bard. I used The Tortured King quite a bit that time, and made Tan an archer.
If I play again (I don't discard doing so), I'll probably end doing the same as in the rogue/fighter playthrough (using every companion at some point and doing their personal quests), but with a different class for my PC and some of the companions (Mu'Tasin, for example). I'd use some extra companion If Leadership works correctly after the last patch.
My main playtest party was my pc, Kvas as a rogue/swashbucler (and dread pirate with Kaedrin's), Tan as a ranger, Carcarin as a wizard/Red Wizard, and Mu'Tasin as a cleric.
There's six more possible companions. Who did you take and what did you do with them?
