Tried it, doesn't work, and their site says it was added 25 of April 2022, which, funnily enough, is roughly when this outdated mod was last updated and well before the 1.0.0 release. Curse you, curse your bloodline, and curse the ground with which you walk upon for giving me false hope >:(
I had that problem at first too make sure you have one of each of the troop types in your party or else it won't work and the formation screen won't come up. [Infantry Archer Cavalry HorseArcher] Once I put a horse archer in my party that I didn't have it worked like it is supposed to
Yes when you click your party you can see the four types of troops at the top. If any of them are 0 the mod doesn't activate. I just tested it again to make sure I wasn't tripping it def works fine for me
Not sure what you mean, you could use the dismount command on them right away and then make them act as infantry or archers! Only need to add at least one of each to get the group to activate. I normally play without horse archers too. You can still make a giant infantry/archer squad in the horse archer squad slot with just one horse archer. Then all the 5+ formations are available and the other positions are set as you selected in the party screen. It seems like the formations just aren't activated if it detects one formation group is "missing". Or something like that.

is this mod just dead now? cause this was needed, and still is. it's a massive pain trying to get my pikemen and skirmishers into separate formations away from my infantry.
