About this mod

This mod brings back the autoblock system from the previous games. It completely bypasses the blocking system implemented in game so rebinding your keys is required. It also comes with support for passive blocking and active blocking (Like in warband)

Permissions and credits
I brought back the autoblocking system similar to the one in previous games. It allows you to defend yourself against enemy threats by only pressing your right mouse button.
The Autoblock system bypasses the in game autoblocking, so it is required to unbind the defense button to a key you do not use (Either the numpad keys or something irrelevant)

By default the defense stance is set to down if no target is found. The reason why is because if you are being attacked by archers and carrying a shield, you can defend yourself. The autoblock also works with shields on short range.

Changelog
Version 1.1
- Improved autoblock accuracy
- Fixed issue where if mounted and blocking, the horse was uncontrollable.

Version 1.2
- Fixed possible crash on startup when reading from the Config missing  Carriage Return
- Fixed possible crash on startup when config was missing

Options
The mod comes with a configuration file which you are free to change. In case you corrupt it the file can be deleted and will be re-created on game restart automatically.
You can change the assistType which defines the type of defense you would like to use. You can currently chose between the new system - which blocks automatically while you are holding your defend button, or the old system like in the previous games where you have to press your defend button before an enemy attacks.
In the file you can also change your bindings. Since the in game system is bypassed, you can specify what key you would like to use for defense. By default it is the right mouse button. A file called Button List.txt is provided where you can see the list of possible options.

You can find the AutoBlock config in the root directory of the AutoBlock folder. It is named Config.ini.

Installation
Installation is straight forward:

  • Extract the content of the zip into your modules folder
  • Enable the the mod in the launcher
  • *IMPORTANT* Unbind the "Defend" binding in the game options under Mouse and Keyboard section and bind it to a button you don't use

Disclaimer
The mod was tested but there still could be special cases where it might not work or crash. Please report them to me immediately in case you happen to stumble upon a problem.

The mod will currently block targets that you are looking at. If you are looking away from the target attacking you, it will not defend against it.
