I started using this on version 1.5 and it is broke as hell. It is still fun because I could use the projectiles but all the new units were replaced with children who didn't use the weapons and all the imperial archers were also replaced with children.
The worst part is that they show up in tournaments and have no hit box making them immortal ankle biters!
I wasn't even using a mod that changes troops so I have no idea wth is going on. Fun but either the mod does not work on current build or I messed up something in the files
Is there a way to update the grenadier and rocket troops to get too expensive? So it would be more realistic since otherwise the AI empire would invade everything without having anything in his pocket
or if you could make one like that edited to download it that are worth more than 8000 denares the improvement to rockets and grenadiers or as you think it is more realistic
It would also give more performance from so much fire spam
It works on me and my friend's game. Did you use any other mods, especially troop tree edits? Because the game cannot handle more than 2 upgrades for one troop. It shouldn't be a DLL issue because my mod doesn't use DLL.
1. Make sure it's 1.3 version of the game, I haven't playtested it in beta 1.4 2. Make sure the name of the folder in "Modules" exactly "FireTroops" or "Grenadiers" if you are using grenadier only version, the loading of mods is very name sensitive. If you had made sure both and still had issues, then I have no idea of what causes the crash, the mod itself is 100% functional.
That's why I modified the imperial troops, their recruits are accessible by all faction so the enemies have these units too, and I also had two nerfed versions. Grenadiers are not that OP, you need to carefully command them about when to fire or a cavalry charge could make them panic killing friendly units.
Very cool! We have similar mechanics / items in our mod. The grenadiers / aoe magic users tend to be... suicidal... at times LOL. This is as close to muskets as we'll probably get until mod tools are out
Tbh I think my mod is kinda basic, it's just implementing siege weapons' effects and flags to arrows and bolts and stones. When the modding tools are out it's not only about importing new models but also coding the AI to use loose formation when explosives are used by either side of the battle so they suicide less xD Really wish they would release the modding tools sooner
I REALLY like the strategic concept of grenadiers. Do you think it's possible to implement some kind of smoke screen that stops the enemy from charging and/or causes them to lose visibility? It would be great to overcome a spear defense with smoke, then slam a wall of cavalry into unsuspecting meat bags!
The thing I like about my grenadiers is that they are the more "realistic" part of my mod because the Sassanid Persians (as well as some other nations) used oil-filled firebombs to break enemy morale, while rocket arrows are basically fantastical. When I designed the grenadiers, I pictured them skirmishing on enemy flanks to disrupt their formation and weaken their "hitpoints". The thing is tho, as you may have noticed, there is really not a "visibility" setting except in hideout ambushes, so it's kinda hard to make a smokescreen effect until the official modding tools are out.
TL;DR: The AIs automagically know where you are in regular battle so it's hard to implement visibility loss.
I can make some cavalry grenadiers if there is the demand tho.
