What is Crossbow Overhaul?
Crossbow overhaul is part one of an ongoing to project to add replayability via more troops, items, and balanced scaling throughout the factions. The goal is to be very vanilla and lore friendly but also adding diverse mechanics to make the next playthrough more unique than the last. Crossbow overhaul will give you more end-game options if you like crossbows, while also adding units for Vlandia, Empire, and even Khuzait.
Features
- All Crossbows and bolts have been redone, making the vanilla crossbows and bolts be more aligned with vanilla bows and arrows.
- Vlandia has been making many technological advances with their crossbowman. Now discovering new ways to put more bolts in a single crossbow, thus the repeating crossbow has been born.
- The Empire, knowing that Vlandia has been making many new discoveries with their technology, has been implementing their own new technology to make a bolt travel faster, and deadlier, than ever before.
- The Vlandians and Empire haven't been the only ones making technological advances. The Khuzait they have also made their own type of repeating crossbow, with even more bolts than the repeating crossbow with slight drawbacks to damage and speed.
- New troops such as the Vlandian Pavise Champion, Imperial Captain, and Khuzait Chu Ko Numan have been introduced.
- And much, much more.
Important Notes
- Due to Crossbow Overhaul, crossbowman are relatively stronger than vanilla troops at the moment; however, the next part of the project is Bow and Arrow Overhaul, which will remedy many of these imbalances.
- Make sure to load Crossbow Overhaul below other troop mods, as this will allow for maximum compatibility.
- This mod was tested on 1.3 beta, but should be compatible with 1.2
Compatibility
- Slightly incompatible with troop mods that modify equipment of crossbow units.
- Fully compatible with mods that adjust unit stats

TroubleShooting
Q: I don't see any new X! or X isn't showing in the shops!
A: Make sure the mod is properly installed and that it is below other troop mods in your load order. And many items are culture specific, ie. Repating Crossbow is Vlandia only.
Q: The Game Crashed and its your mod's fault!
No it's not, the mod is fully functional. Make sure to check your load order for other mods that could be causing issues.
Recommendations
- Crossbow Overhaul is very compatible with Noble Troops, which is a mod I highly recommend until the other parts are finished.
