When the new Spider Daedra model was being developed there were two parallel designs being worked on: Battlespire's "masc"-coded Spider Daedra of Clan Perthan, and a "fem" design inspired by TESIV: Oblivion's version. It was eventually decided that the masculine design would be used only for members of the Perthan clan, who in Battlespire and PTR lore are exclusively sworn to Mehrunes Dagon. The Mephalan variant would use the feminine version. This was internally explained as an imposed physical transformation, much like how the clanless Seducers were transformed into the winged Dark Seducers upon entering Dagon's service. In PTR, Perthans are implemented as unique, named characters only found in important Dagonite shrines.
However, if you happen to really like the Perthan design and wish to see it more often, you can use this mod. It simply replaces the model for the 'lesser' or 'common' Spider Daedra with the smaller, Battlespire - inspired model. Spider Daedra Matriarchs and Monarchs still use the more imposing Oblivion - inspired model. I think this works quite well -- much like real-life spiders, the female variant is much larger. They are also crowned, which fits perfectly as an exclusive feature of the Matriarchs and Monarchs.
Also, if you're an MWSE user and manage to learn the "Summon Spider Daedra" spell, you'll summon the Battlespire variant.
Requirements: Just Tamriel_Data, though you like wont encounter Spider Daedra unless you have Tamriel Rebuilt or Project Tamriel installed.
