See the questions below, as I feel this is the best format for explaining. I've assigned them from least spoiler-y to most spoiler-y.
Why Dagoth Araynys?
In the vanilla game, he's the only Ash Vampire that you don't find within Red Mountain besides Dagoth Uthol in Kogoruhn, who is attached to a later quest. I felt like having a sub-boss to taunt the player would add nicely to the pacing and give Araynys a reason to be where he is.
Why add the Heretic?
There's three reasons, one of which is a massive spoiler that you'll find literally at the end of this document. Another reason was that I thought it would add a nice additional layer to the wel... -
Quest One:
Talk to Caius Cosades about Orders.
Speak with Baleni outside Lucky Lockup.
Wait three days.
Speak with Baleni again.
Head to Subdun.
You may be wondering why the creatures are attacking you, this is intended.
In "Subdun, Shrine," speak with Dagoth Araynys.
The intent is that you flee. However, you can stand and fight Dagoth Araynys, but you can't kill him yet. The mod will reward you a little, though, because if you damage him enough, yes he'll heal a little bit but the next time you'll meet him he'll be a little weaker. My suggestion is to damage him as much as you can, then flee!
Return to Caius Cosades.
