In a world where mages can go invisible and open locks in an instant, it seemed odd that the Thieves Guild doesn't make use of them... and a shame that mage players were excluded from progression despite being effective thieves. Then I thought about some of the Thieves Guild questlines in PTR which are based around con jobs and fraud instead of burglary and pickpocketing, and how necessary haggling would be for a thief, and wondered: why not speechcraft and mercantile as well?
Alas, Morrowind caps the number of favoured skills a faction can have, so the weapon/armour skills had to go. The Guild discourages violent solutions to quests, after all.
Once I'd done all that, I started wondering why the Guild doesn't sell Open scrolls. So now they do. Happy loot-hauling!
