Weapon Refinement Lua allows you to use anvils to refine weapons in a vanilla-friendly way, enhancing their stats based on your armorer skill and base attributes. This mod dynamically integrates anvils into merchant inventories using OpenMW's Lua scripting, providing a seamless experience within the base game. It includes built-in compatibility with Tamriel Rebuilt and Starwind. Not compatible with MWSE.

Installation
Requirements:
    OpenMW 0.49.0 or higher

Steps:
    Download the Mod Files: Obtain the mod files from the Nexus Mod Manager.
    Extract the Files: Extract the downloaded files into your OpenMW Data Files directory.
    Modify openmw.cfg: Add the following lines to your openmw.cfg file:

    data="path/to/your/extracted/files"

    Activate the Mod: Open the OpenMW Launcher, navigate to Data Files, and ensure weapon-refinement-lua.omwscripts is checked.

How to Play:

To refine a weapon, approach an anvil in the world and activate it with your weapon drawn to attempt to refine your weapon. If you succeed, your weapons value and damage ranges increase slightly, and its name will have a '+1' added at the end of it. Each time you upgrade your weapon this number will increase (Think Dark Souls, or Dragon Quest). The success of an individual refinement attempt is determined by a roll, where the difficulty is based on the weapon's current damage, and your modifiers include your current fatigue, armorer skill, and is slightly influenced by your luck, agility, and intelligence.
Before attempting to refine a weapon, ensure your fatigue is at its maximum and your armorer skill is as high as possible, as low armorer skill or fatigue will significantly decrease your chances of success.

Weapons with slower swing speeds, and weapons with a higher capacity for enchantments - such as Ebony and Daedric weapons - will be substantially easier to refine in comparison to cheaper and faster weapons.

Players can find anvils in several ways: they can buy one from most traders who sell miscellaneous items, or pick up static anvils found in the world, such as the one in Ald'ruhn. Additionally, Anvils have been added at the Balmora Fighters Guild and Arrille's Tradehouse in Seyda Neen to improve the early game experience.
To pick up an anvil on the ground, activate it with your weapons sheathed.

Compatibility:

Starwind, the Star Wars overhaul for OpenMW, is fully compatible! If you have Starwind, Anvils are replaced with 'Modification Bays' that accomplish the same mechanical role.
Tamriel Rebuilt is also fully supported.
As this mod is made entirely with Lua, it is safe to install during a play through.
